when I was really little, my great grandma taught me how to embroider. We would sit in her living room for hours and embroider together. Since I was little, I was never able to finish any of the projects I started, and because she lived in Illinois and my family lives in California, I wasn't able to visit that often to finish my projects. Sometimes, she would let me take some strings and finish them at home. The projects I made never really turned out very good because I didn't have super good motor skills, but gosh darn it I was so proud of the little bundle of grapes that I finished, and every single time I showed them to her, she would be so proud of me. She passed away seven years ago, and ever since then, I've tried hardest to improve my embroidering skills.

I can guarantee you she is proud of you. This even reminds me of myself! My grandma had dementia and we are putting her a nursing home so she can get taken care of. I never understood why people enjoyed embroidery so much until I took some of her extra floss home. I tried and fell in love, now it’s my goal to embroider some yellow roses for her (they’re her favorite flower). It’s a shame I didn’t pick the hobby up sooner so she could teach me, but I guess it’s never too late to learn :)

So I bought a cross stitch pattern and some linen and muline and I started. I still do it. I make beautiful gifts for the people I love and decorate my house. It really calms me down. Nadia Ahmad Haidat- you could scale this down and just make it smaller if you like this design! There are so many directions you could go with designs though, and so much out there, try figuring out what style you would like first (borders, traditional floral, modern floral, starburst, metallic, beaded, insect, line work, etc...or even a combination- for example; floral borders) and then go with the simplest of that style (if you are new to embroidery). Maybe search Pinterest if you have it or try drawing out your own designs! Have fun!

Sometimes it can be stressing because you messed up or are doing anew stitch. But maybe it’s just because I’m a perfectionist

I've been embroidering for a short time now, and I've tried some of your patterns. Here it looks so effortless and easy! It's not that for a beginner like me, but I still have a lot of fun! :)

It's all about practice :) I try to create simple patterns but to make them beautiful. I am glad if you still can enjoy them :)

Very beautiful, very simple and easy to follow. What do we do next ? What can be done with that piece of cloth which has that embroidery ? How does it translate into a pillow or piece of art on wall
@SammyBoo5504 жыл бұрын
I assume you can hang it on the wall. I don't see why you couldn't put a hoop on a pillowcase and do it that way.
@marg42294 жыл бұрын
You can use a thin wooden board or even thick cardboard and duct tape the surplus at the back or fold the outside edge of embroidery to the back and staple or use small short nails to attach to wooden board and hang up (find picture hanging stuff in hardware store). I've also found a contrasting fabric and made pillows. My house is filled with flower - houseplant theme embroidery pictures and it is so cozy to be around. Best thing next to comfort food and no calories.

God I miss being able to embroidery, needle point, and cross stitch. I haven't done any of them for over 30 years. It is too painful for my hands, they look fine but they aren't. It seriously makes me cry to not be able to. You did a great job.

What happened to your hands?
@geetha925334 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can try a round loom? :) It’s much easier on the hands than knitting or crochet and yet you can turn out lovely scarves, hats, blankets etc.

I know what you mean. I have very serious carpal tunnel syndrome on both hands , occupational hazard, but was thinking of maybe trying it out since this is one thing i've never done. I actually apply ice to my wrist after a day of sewing or doing scrapbooking any arts and crafts type thing. You should try maybe it will help.

I've always wanted to learn embroidery!! I wanted to try adding embroidered designs to some fabrics I'd use for Furoshiki (as a replacement for using disposable gift wrapping during Christmas) but I never got around to it since I never knew how to make my embroidery look good. But this tutorial was really helpful! Thank you 💖

What a beautiful piece! I've been watching tons of embroidery videos to get as much info, learning, and inspiration for my first piece - making a junk journal for someone and wanted to add a hand embroidered element to it. I've just enjoyed seeing all you lovely embroiderers on here - I've started working on my piece after months and months of just watching and I can say - this is harder than it looks. I'm having to brute force my way through some parts just because I don't really understand what I've watched and don't know if I'm doing stuff the right way, but I'm learning. Even if I have to do things my own way in some parts. Videos like this are such a help and gives me something to work towards!!!
