It made me cry. I remembered how my grandma showed me how to decorate napkins, shirts and other little things by using this method. I forgot about it, sadly since nanna passed away 10 years ago... Will try to find our napkins and start this journey again, this time with my kids. Beautiful work! Thank you! 🥰

Perhaps your grandmother wanted you to be reminded so you could begin this time in your life once more to work with napkins as she had taught you many years ago? It will bring you a feeling of being so close to her and passing this on to your little ones. They will be reminded one day too and continue on?

when I was really little, my great grandma taught me how to embroider. We would sit in her living room for hours and embroider together. Since I was little, I was never able to finish any of the projects I started, and because she lived in Illinois and my family lives in California, I wasn't able to visit that often to finish my projects. Sometimes, she would let me take some strings and finish them at home. The projects I made never really turned out very good because I didn't have super good motor skills, but gosh darn it I was so proud of the little bundle of grapes that I finished, and every single time I showed them to her, she would be so proud of me. She passed away seven years ago, and ever since then, I've tried hardest to improve my embroidering skills.

I can guarantee you she is proud of you. This even reminds me of myself! My grandma had dementia and we are putting her a nursing home so she can get taken care of. I never understood why people enjoyed embroidery so much until I took some of her extra floss home. I tried and fell in love, now it’s my goal to embroider some yellow roses for her (they’re her favorite flower). It’s a shame I didn’t pick the hobby up sooner so she could teach me, but I guess it’s never too late to learn :)

I also embroider to calm down. One year and a half ago I left my job for family reasons. For the first 3 months I was doing ok. But then I started feeling anxious and depressed. So I bought a cross stitch pattern and some linen and muline and I started. I still do it. I make beautiful gifts for the people I love and decorate my house. It really calms me down. I feel creative and I have a goal. Now I started to use even finer linen. I really enjoy it.

I’ve tried many times through the years with fair outcome. This type of embroidery is absolutely beautiful and pieces of art ! When I asked her about this art, she never teaches me how to do it, coz she'd said it kinda difficult. For me it kinda difficult too. She made a lot of cross stitches art and it's been hanging on our wall for more than 20 years. And only one of this.

@@immukhan9861 Rather than colour of threads I think they meant amount of threads. They normally use one or two threads doing fine embroidery while the person in the video uses what looks like 6 threads together, which makes it thicker.

If you don’t have a hoop at home, use a plastic container and lid. Just cut off the bowl (bottom part) and the middle of the lid and only keep the frame. I’m surprised how well it works!! 😍😍😍

Will It sound weird if I say: I love the sound of the needle and thread piercing the cloth , it is CALMING &SOOTHING. Fortunately, the colors are the same as my sitting room furniture, so I will give it a try to make a table cloth. Happy that youtube recommended your video and I am a knitting lady kind . Thanks and lots of love from Morocco 🇲🇦 COULD YOU PLEASE SUGGEST SMALLER EMBROIDERIES for scarves. I wear hijab and i would love to embellish them a little. Thanks in advance

Nadia Ahmad Haidat- you could scale this down and just make it smaller if you like this design! There are so many directions you could go with designs though, and so much out there, try figuring out what style you would like first (borders, traditional floral, modern floral, starburst, metallic, beaded, insect, line work, etc...or even a combination- for example; floral borders) and then go with the simplest of that style (if you are new to embroidery). Maybe search Pinterest if you have it or try drawing out your own designs! Have fun!

You can use a thin wooden board or even thick cardboard and duct tape the surplus at the back or fold the outside edge of embroidery to the back and staple or use small short nails to attach to wooden board and hang up (find picture hanging stuff in hardware store). I've also found a contrasting fabric and made pillows. My house is filled with flower - houseplant theme embroidery pictures and it is so cozy to be around. Best thing next to comfort food and no calories.

I know what you mean. I have very serious carpal tunnel syndrome on both hands , occupational hazard, but was thinking of maybe trying it out since this is one thing i've never done. I actually apply ice to my wrist after a day of sewing or doing scrapbooking any arts and crafts type thing. You should try maybe it will help.

What a beautiful piece! I've been watching tons of embroidery videos to get as much info, learning, and inspiration for my first piece - making a junk journal for someone and wanted to add a hand embroidered element to it. I've just enjoyed seeing all you lovely embroiderers on here - I've started working on my piece after months and months of just watching and I can say - this is harder than it looks. I'm having to brute force my way through some parts just because I don't really understand what I've watched and don't know if I'm doing stuff the right way, but I'm learning. Even if I have to do things my own way in some parts. Videos like this are such a help and gives me something to work towards!!!
