Pink Dot 15 Panel Discussion: What Makes a Family

Interesting discussion with accounts of several LGBTQ problems & emotion coming out to family & their reactions. However, the panel failed to cover advances in our perception of socio scientific developments in modern society. IVF enable Gay couples to have party genetic offsprings so the worries of traditional attitudes of lonely gays aging with no children to look after them is redundant. The reality in Singapore is there are still many single unmarried straight people , sometimes out of choice & there are married heterosexual couple who prefer not to have any children. My mum was a single parent & there is no evidence that children brought up by gay parents don't develope as normal heterosexual people. I understand the panel cannot cover all aspects of the 'Family' discussion but the ' Elephant in the room' is religious bigotry & conservatism. Although LGBTQ+ covers a wide range of sexuality, so many in straight society have not much understanding of the emotional & religious struggles of coming out & personal acceptance , of trying to change I.e. ' to go straight'. ... Many LGBT people have tried very hard & failed . It is better to be born straight than gay : living in fear of discovery a shameful, abnormal lifestyle, the ostracism, the vilification, discrimination & out right bullying, the hostile attitude of the religious right in their continued attempts in oppressing the LGBT community. Just one example : foreigners are banned from sponsoring or participating @ a 3 hour Pink Dot picnic in Hong Lim Park. The fine is S $ 10,000 & 6 months jail. This is even more DRACONIAN than an violation of Pandemic restrictions . This law was enacted on the coercion of the religious right. LKY warned the government about the separation of state & Church but some MPs still rejected the appeal of 377a on religious grounds . SAD & shameful that religion has infiltrated into our Parliament

why cannot object on religious grounds? to say religion has infiltrated the parliament is ridiculous... do muslim mps push that pork be banned or that no religious symbols be allowed to be displayed outside hdb flats? you would be surprised how many non religious people find s e x between same sex disgusting.
