I like the idea that the scroll, even if read, makes no sense as a joke without the proper context of the events thousands of years ago. So the players read, “The long wind bellows through the canyon of the mountainfolk,” and don’t realize until they deliver it to the dragon, who bursts out laughing, that it’s an ancient elven joke about farting Dwarves.

I love the idea that, since Metallic and Chromatic dragons are instinctively against each other, the Pink Dragons initiate prank wars against Copper Dragons, or have joke competitions between each other. While all other dragons of their kinds go for each other’s throats, they instead go for each other’s wits. Sure, Pink Dragons are not evil, but the Chromatic-Metallic rivalry continues. I like to think that some even overcome their base instinct and become witty comedian couples.

Imagin if you will. The parties wizard patron is so flustered at a practical joke that they fly into a peak of rage and storm out of there tower off to confront this pink menace. With great seriousness uses there voice to cast a mighty spell that requires concentration. The pink dragon...... Uses good impression but.... Chants the spell in an accent so funny or disjointed with reality that while it succeeds in casting the spell it also has the effect of ending the party patron's concentration. Because, to they are laughing so hard or they blacked out because they became so angry at being mocked.

Brass Dragons often kidnap people they meet if they find that they give an interesting enough conversation, stories told, and other similar things. Though that’s usually very temporary(they are chaotic good usually after all). Where as Pink Dragons are a bit more selfish with their wants lol

The party quests to an ancient destroyed city with an undead infestation. After days of fighting and searching they find an ancient scroll in a forgotten language. The wizard curses himself, having chosen to learn them the normal way, as he believed it was both lazy and a waste of power to cast comprehend language. The journey back to the grand wizard is long and arduous, taking weeks. Upon receiving the scroll the wizard opens it with a flourish, reads it, and bursts into laughter. Her elvish form begins to expand, before turning into the form of a great dragon the color of cherry blossoms. The wizard stammers "what does it say?" She replies simply "you wouldn't understand." Before mumbling between chuckles "the dog opens its eyes. How could I have forgotten?"

But what the Pink Dragon doesn’t know is that the Grey Jester is actually siphoning their happiness, until the party tells the dragon of the true nature of the Jester after most of their happiness is gone leading the dragon to get really mad and scare the Grey Jester away, then the party uses Greater Restoration on the dragon and their returned to their jokester self.

Idea for a plotline involving a pink dragon: - The party is in a tavern or other meeting place, asking for a lead on an artifact or something that can defeat the BBEG. - A polymorphed pink dragon approaches them. - The dragon promises to tell them where to find the artifact, but they must first recover a small, 20-sided gemstone from a distant dungeon. - The directions to the dungeon have the party running around in circles for an hour, turns out it was actually just outside the town they were in but on the other side of the town from the gate they left. - The dungeon turns out to be Ruinsmith's "Most Annoying Dungeon Ever". - The gemstone is one of the D20s from the table where the skeletons are playing a TTRPG where only the GM rolls dice. - When the party returns, either covered in dirt (from digging out of the entrance after passing backwards through the wall of force), genderbent (from rolling 20 on another D20 at the table) or covered in scorch marks (from escaping the Nine Hells), the dragon is still in the tavern but is no longer polymorphed and takes up half the space inside the tavern. Everyone in the tavern laughs at the party as they enter the door. - Turns out the dragon told everyone about the huge prank they pulled on you while you were away. - They can honor their promise or not, it's up to you. I feel it would be better if the dragon did honor their promise since that fits more with their whole good-natured comedy thing, but you could make them particularly nasty and not uphold the promise.

I love the idea of a disguised pink dragon sending the party to 'fix' the problem of a Gray Jester in the dragon's favored town because the dragon doesn't want to risk the wrath of the Unseelie Court personally. Really forces the players to dig deeper to avoid that outcome and still get a reward from the dragon for handling things (by negotiating with the jester or finding a way to remove it without killing it, perhaps).

I definitely love the idea of a more chaotic, but leans on lighthearted side of dragons especially on the chromatic side. I think Pink Dragons would have an interesting relationship with Copper Dragons in the D&D universe, since they share a similar M.O they would definitely get along but engage in decades long prank wars or get into long roasting sessions, just to name a few interactions. Pinks will definitely be in my games once i get going on DM'ing.

@@DungeonDad Doing some world building and this dragon fits especially if adding in feywild bits to say why it's so different. But the kicker is there are a fair amount of metallic dragons. Even a copper dragon mafia. Add in a wondering rare pink dragon and it being itself and maybe two others.... Perhaps. They have to go over the top to compete with copper dragons. Funny enough some copper dragons are known for being theives ( you weren't doing anything with it). Pinks are known for practical jokes.... Getting into a copper dragons hoard and returning stolen items would be a "prank" for the ages.

The thing is either way. They each leave a calling card. A joke page, funny trap, hidden funny message. Usually this is fun among freinds. Perhaps a wealthy patron who knows about the practice even pays the pink dragon to go play pranks on other dragons.

My all-time favorite monster is the Susurrus (that's the proper spelling)- it's first appearance (that I know of) was the 1E Fiend Folio. They're big headless ape-like aberrations made out of crystalline honeycomb tunnels (aka a Trypophobia NIGHTMARE). They're so bizarre- they eat air, hate fire, and their bodies produce a droning noise that makes all Undead pacified and immobile, no save. I think they're perfect Aberrations, because they just exist, unapologetically, without adhering to the laws or expectations of our known reality. I hope you'll cover this unappreciated gem!

Like, they hold some kind of ritual and it is heavily eluded to that once a month a bunch of people are sacrificed to a dragon that lives in the mountain for protection, but the "sacrifice" is actually just a bunch of people who have to go sit through a comedy routine and laugh really hard so the dragon stays happy.

I can imagine a pink dragon as the hybrid between a red dragon and a white dragon An incredibly violent neurotic chromatic dragon with an inferiority complex, steming from its comparatively weaker magic. Also you could make the bubbles a container, drop a bubble in a crowd and have it burst into a long lasting smokescreen. Or fill with flammable gas to make traps.

New to your channel, but I'm loving all the content. This Pink Dragon sounds amazing to have as even just a set piece in some city. Maybe a city with the foremost bardic college in it is home to a Pink Dragon, maybe even a professor of comedy in the college who takes advantage of all the new blood coming in and out to collect new jokes. As for a suggestion, a pathfinder creature (as I've GMed Pathfinder for a while). The Ankou, is a powerful fey assassin that frankly looks more like a demon. And acts more like a demon than most fey. If the party gets one coming after them... Well, it's not going to be a fun time.

This dragon would be perfect to use for a dragon who has taken up residence in a travelling circus, who takes up the role of the fool- polymorphed almost constantly, this dragon provides protection to the travelling troupe, in exchange for being allowed to perform, honestly, with just a little bit of reflavouring, this dragon would make a great npc/final boss for a arc.

Neat thing with the Stats, It's "Good Impression"' Ability can be used to counterspell any Spell that's already been used during that particular Encounter, With the Dragon Stating "I've heard that one before, just now! Get some new Material!" EVERY, SINGLE, TIME it uses that ability that way. The reason I thought about this is because in older Editions that's how counterspells worked, you needed to have the specific spell you were tying to counterspell prepared and spend it to cancel out the other Mage's casting of that spell. In this case, the Pink Dragon Can cast any Spell it's Seen in the last hour, so it automatically Knows those spells, and has a slot ready for free each round to cancel out any One spell it's already seen that encounter. My Free Dragon Joke of the day: "Did you hear the one about the Evil Dragon?".....*Pause for Dramatic Effect*..... "You know what, Nevermind, it wasn't Very Good anyway..." *Smirks*

Thanks to this video it help me make my own pink dragon that is like a lust dragon of sorts, the way I made it was its a dragon that loves to socialize with humanoid civilizations to hear and have stories of romance thier hoard is usually trinkets they've gotten from past lovers that they out aged. The pink dragons breath attack is a phenomenon attack that charms those that fail the save, but it doesn't use charm to harm their allies but restraint them so the dragon can get away, for this dragon has the fastest speeds of the dragons. The pink dragon is smaller and weaker than others so they would rather not fight at all.

On a related note: I really need to start mining that series for monster/dragon ideas because slip and slide dragon battle sounds like an A+ encounter. Also, love the addition of the imitation action and the general joke theme. What a wonderful combo all around.

you could make this thing scary AF too. laughter can be more unsettling than gore in the right context. if you for example make the bubbles it spews into a psychoactive substance similar to the joy stuff in we happy few or something for example. a bit less fucked up bit still spooky would be making the dragon into mad hatter type character where it's jokes are nonsensical and even slightly disturbing but still magically the funniest thing ever

I actually have a bit of a darker idea for the pink dragon. What if it breathed radiation or have a radioactive aura? Cause I recently watched HBO's Chernobyl and when people had to much radiation there skin turned pink. Also I think this would be a good idea for why pink dragons are so rare because other dragons will kill them because they are literally walking and joking Chernobyl reactors that could destroy their kingdoms or territorie. You also could use in way that the pink dragon always gets the last laugh.

Very interesting. One of my player characters was a pink dragon of my own devising - love of jokes was there, but his breath weapon was a gaseous cone of bubblegum scented healing potion which would render creatures and areas it hit sticky (resulting in slowed or halted movement in addition to the healing). It's intriguing seeing how much overlap there is with someone else's pink dragon design!

I got it! Legendary Action- "Your Mom" the standard LA that can counter a spell, effect, status but with the added flavor of it interrupting your concentration by saying "your mom" right as you act. Talking is a free action however and if players make good puns or jokes during combat or the rounds they can also remove legendary actions from the dragon in turn as it laughs/reacts at the joke and tries to archive/remember it for future use. Up to DM discretion on what the dragon finds funny obv

Definitely could be deceptively formidable. An alternative to the comedic aura could also be a sort of manic aura maybe? Creatures of revelry are sometimes known for taking things... violently far. Okay, this may have been mentioned but I just imagined a Pink Dragon setting up a gauntlet like mentioned but having magical running commentary ala a game show like GUTS or some such. The party can get to the middle and be rewarded with a cash prize or a chunk of magic items. Could run it super dangerous and anyone that dies is just eliminated with 'a parting gift'.

Much nicer than the other option of it just being the offspring of a Red & White Dragon with the breath weapons of both, or some kind of Hellish Freezing Flame that deals BOTH Fire & Ice Damage simultaneously. Like a Hot Pocket if you will, half freezing & half inferno. If you did want to make it more EVIL the Table Top RPG In Nomine has a great vision of how a Humor can be made to be truly a Dark thing with their Demon Prince Kobal Price of Dark Humor. The kind of jokes that kickdown and mock the weak, & make their miseries worse, the kind of "Just a prank bro!" shenanigans that cause major property damage or ruin career opportunities. The Chromatic thus GOOD equivalent would be the Rose Gold Dragon.

My dude, have you considered doing monsters from OSR systems/modules? Flame Princess and Dungeon Crawl Classics have some really cool monsters that I loved so much I put them in my 5e games. Things like the AntiPhoenix and the Niveous Dream Axolotl are damn creepy.
