Let's explore how to make cotton candy or fairy floss around the world. In Korea it is called dragons beard candy and it is made by pulling candy by hand into fine strands like hair. In Persia it has a nutty flavour from sesame seeds and is called pashmak. In Australia the USA and the UK it is made by spinning flavoured sugar using a cotton candy machine. Today I will show you how to make all three, they are heaps of fun to make at home.

Well, pashm does mean wool but the word “pashmak” stands for cotton candy, not little wool. If it did it would be between the lines of “pashm-kochik” or “pashm-kocholo” somewhere like them.

I was so pleasantly surprised to see the pashmak recipe and how closely it resembled an indian sweet we have called soan papdi. we use a chickpea paste with lots of sugar, while the rest of the process remains the same. great fun!

Australia doesn't even make the list. The coldest ever recorded for Australia is −23.0 °C (−9.4 °F) 29 June 1994, with average winters of 15 °C (59 °F). Their coldest record was probably the average for my home town last year and that was a warm winter for us! (It was so weird I was waiting for the other shoe to drop by the end of January and all of February) It's normal for us to get at least one night during winter at -32°C (-25°F) and usually -26°C (-15°F) for avarage in January! Though I know it feels really cold to them becuase they have really hot summers, but still! Please don't complain till you've at least been somewhere it's -29°C (-20°F)! Though I would recomend avoiding any colder temps when its even a little windy, as in don't leave the house if you can😨. LOL ( We live on a small farm so we have to go out a couple times a day no matter how cold becuase we need to check on animals. T.T doesn't matter how your bundle up the wind shears right through you😅) I have a hard time imagining living anywhere colder. No idea how they do it.😫

People grow their own produce, and then can them (even though they're normally put in Mason jars, but it's called canning) so it lasts all year. I wouldn't be surprised if it was still good. People have been canning things for thousands of years.

This confection was invented in India and is made from chickpea flour (besan), wheat flour (maida), clarified butter (ghee), milk, and sugar. It is seasoned with cardamon and topped with a few slices or slivers of pistachios, almonds, and/or melon seeds. We can all agree, the world around, that pulled sugar is delicious! Many countries "invented" it independently, each adding their favorite seasonings and flours. Long live thin strands of sugary goodness!

The Pashmak is actually called, in popular turkish "Pi-sh-ma-ni-ye", that's a long word so I guess that's how you say that in english. I used to eat it SO MUCH as a child (I'm originally from turkey, now living in israel) everytime someone brought it back with it. The process was really fun to watch because as an 8 years old I always described it as "cotton candy that someone sprinkled tahini (the paste with the sesame seed) on it."

Pashmak: we use hot sand not rice - lots of oil in pan; little salt and sugar to finish before stir for bite. Use milk not oil when brush pan and pour all over whole stir

Ann I'm always blown away by the creativity you bring to all your videos! You try so many different forms of deserts and never settle for the ordinary. I also always appreciate how you show the hang ups you had on the way so we can really learn! There's definitely a reason why you're one of the few KZbin channels I still watch regularly haha (not to insult any other channels of course ^^) I actually had a suggestion! Would you do a video doing vegan deserts? Maybe a candy/baked desert/something chocolate in a video? It doesn't have to be anything insane, but I'd love to see what you could come up with! It's obv fine if you don't bc I love all you're videos anyway! ^^ keep up the great work!!
