Working in a Romaian orphage in 91. Bought this on vinyl. Brought it home to Northern Ireland and give it to my friend as a present, he lost his father in Enniskillen IRA boming in 1987. Beautiful music helps but pain, trauma can never be boxed or hidden but have to be lived with.. 2024... What have we humans learned about war? Sad indictment on all governments.

When I was in the Navy, I used to take a break after my shift was over. I laid in the sun watching Navy aircraft fly above me. This album went so well with the actual experience of hearing them fly above me. Behind the barracks was a pond and a bird would perch on a log sticking up out of the pond. We kept each other company, as we watched the aircraft above us. I guess we both were accustomed to the noise. I'll never forget it.

Potentially controversial take, but this is the best Pink Floyd album. I will admit, no album ever tells a story quite like The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon has many iconic songs, but this album easily has some of Dave's finest work. The solos in Sorrow still give me chills to this day.

I went to this concert in 1988. It was in Mannheim, Germany. The very best concert that I have EVER SEEN. 3 hours long, open air and no back-up band. The special effect were awesome and the sub-harmonic base was bone vibrating.

My first introduction was in 1972 with Meddle, One of These Days just blew me away. What the hell was that? Daves screeching finger work just took it to a level only Jimi Hendrix could do but BETTER. I was hooked. Being in the 70's of course I took everything I could as I layed out flat and just listened. Enthralled, amazed, smitten. Back then it was all vinyl, but no matter the new ways to play, I had all the discography, vinyl, 8-track, cassette, and then to cd. I hunted for old shit, bootleg, everything. Knew they were going to be in Saint Louis Mo way back when but could not get tickets or the transportation. Hated the miss out on that one. They had just released The Wall. Dammit! Did get to see Momentary Lapse tour In Kansas City. What a SHOW. Hated that Rodger Waters was no longer part of the line up but thats how things go. Concert was Brillant, like I imagined it would be. Most of Lapse played and ALL of Dark Side Of The Moon. What an experience. Both Dave and Roger have made great music alone, but they need to work together. Tho Rick is no longer among us, I'm sure they could do something brilliant, if Dave would just let go. Such a master band, trumps all the rest like Led Zepplin and the like in their time, tho they were brilliant in their own rights. ....... All Hail PINK FLOYD!

For me, simply the best album of the band, On The Turning Away” is one of the most beautiful songs edited by Pink Floyd. Written in the 1980s by David Gilmour and Anthony Moore, the song's lyrics contain one of the most powerful messages in PINK fLOYD's entire discography. The lyrics are an ode to the oppressed and to those who are consigned to oblivion due to their social condition and the injustice generated by uneven and heterogeneous development in various underprivileged regions of our planet.

I have to say this is my favorite Pink Floyd album. I'm about to introduce PF to my teenage daughter, and this is going to be the first albulm I'll share with her. I just love every beat and the entire albulm is perfection.

I had this on cassette. This is an excellent album. It’s also very much an 80’s album. You can put the synthy instrumentation into the same category as the Jan Hammer “Miami Vice” soundtrack era. Just as acts like Bowie and Peter Gabriel absorbed the influences of the era and made it their own. I can’t compare 70’s Floyd to the 80’s and 90’s, I appreciate each for their own merits.

Saw them live in st. Louis when this came out, incredible!! Dogs of war was intense with the huge circular video screen. They were so prescient in their songs, and the concert, they had the pig flying around, sound was perfect, special effects perfect, so emersive, totally way ahead of their time. We're seeing the dogs of war running wild now. In an interview with them back in the 80's, they said the only people qualified to be president are those who don't want the job, so freaking true. Soooo tired of egoists and narcissist running the world, making the non-priveledged fight their freaking wars as they sit in their golden bunkers and revel. Makes me sick!!

I grew up worshiping at the temple of Pink Floyd. I had kids young and put it away, the drugs, the music I associated with it and the people as well. It's been at least two decades since I've heard some of these songs. Lot's has changed and I've been searching and rearranging my subconscious for the past year. Last week I was in my women's group and I said, "she's had a momentary lapse of reason." This morning I was driving away from dropping my kids off at school and I thought, "I think I'm on the turning away." I hadn't heard it and sure hadn't been thinking of it but I knew where it came from... I'm here to find out what the music has to tell me.

I was fortunate to have gone to this concert at Reunion Arena in Dallas,Tx. back in the good old 80's they had some pretty cool special effects like a giant bed that flew across the ceiling and during a break in the middle of the show they released a giant inflated pig and let it bounce around in the crowd,good memories!!!!!!!

This is the first Pink Floyd album I listened to. It was the only CD in the car my friend and I borrowed to drive across Wyoming. Listened to it probably a dozen times. Thought about a lot on that journey. We ended by getting drunk on a mountain covered in cactuses in the middle of the night. Was perfect.
