Momentary Lapse of Reason is bad. Their worst album. The live tour captured on Delicate Sounds of Thunder sounds soulless. The absence of Waters was beyond felt. After Waters left, Floyd was mediocre.

Very nice. I dont know why many Pink Floyd fans dont like the albums after The Wall, but I loved them all, Gilmour is fantastic too, their music was still unique. I dont understand...

Amusing to see people still slagging on Momentary Lapse of Reason. It's a brilliant record, would have been worth buying for "Learning to Fly" alone, or "On the Turning Away." Artists need to grow, and these songs as written would have never made it through to the album had Waters been at the helm loading every tune with his endless personal angst. There are other things to write about beyond daddy issues and the shortcomings of British public school education, and Gilmour lends a deft hand and a poet's pen to larger themes, adding important chapters to the Pink Floyd legacy. Things changes, and troopers soldier on and continue to contribute to the cause when others walk away. Bravo to Gilmour, Wright and Mason for leaving us this oft-maligned gem.

There is only one flaw with this record, it could have been better. It is great but feels more like a David Gilmour solo record vs a Pink Floyd album. The Division Bell feels like more like a collaboration of band members and to me that's what Pink Floyd should be.

I'd expect a better come back from a Floyd fan. Look James, I've been a huge Floyd fan since I first heard Meddle back in 1974 when I was 6 years old. Trust me when I say that I was waiting in solid anticipation for this album after I heard they were still going on after Waters left. So YES the album was and is a complete let down as far as I'm concerned. And as far as the concerts for that tour, again, a let down. I saw them twice. First time I had a head full of LSD and when it was over I spent the rest of that night trying to persuade myself that they weren't as bad as I thought, It had to be the acid. So I saw them again with a clear head, unfortunately at Giants Stadium, and they were as bad as I had perceived even tripping. THAT experience really drove home everything Roger had been bitching about at the time. I love Gilmours playing and I've tried to give him the benefit but he's fallen very short every time with one exception. That Gilmours Meltdown show was the best thing he's done since his 78 solo album as a solo artist and the lead of Floyd. Sorry, just how I feel as a fan. And trust me, they aren't the only artist I've enjoyed for many, many years that have lost their appeal to me.

+Thelong Lunarnote Agree with you on a lot of points I remember the Hype at the time(early 1987) about the so called"3 man Floyd reforming" and was so looking forward to a fresh sounding Wright /Gilmour Collaboration..But sure when the new MLOR album appeared in September of that Year Rick Wright didnt even appear on the Cover!!?? He was still in"Session Musician Mode since his Firing in 1979..Its a David Gilmour Solo album no 2 ways about it Same goes for The Final cut which i think matches this album for its "Awfulness/ Tote lack of any Melody..Its aWaters Solo album ..However I thought The Division bell & Live shows were far superior to this pair & It Showed Rick Wright was fully back onboard collaborating

What are you on about?! Roger knows and we know that Pink Floyd after he left was mediocre. All albums were at times even worse than mediocre. They played huge arenas with spectacle but there was no soul. Anyways, small theaters he was not playing. I have seen Waters twice. Once he played a sold out Madison Square Garden. The other one a sold out Yankee Stadium.

He holds the record for the most money made from a tour by a single artist, beating likes of Michael Jackson , Maddona , etc.
@flamingored9604 жыл бұрын
@@thebrightsideofthemoon5829 He had a long tour, which lasted I believe two years or longer so, of course, he's going to have big revenue coming in. Rodger Waters solo albums are good if you listen to it once per two years, but I wouldn't add it to my playlist compare to the classic Pink Floyd music. I prefer the music (sound) of the post Water to his solo albums. I just prefer the division bell album music, but the lyrics are decent.

I personally like A Momentary Lapse of Reason better than The Final Cut. The fact that Roger Waters sang all but 1 song on that album made it seem more like a Roger Waters solo record than a Floyd one. Also, The Final Cut's sound and songs sounded uninspiring to my ears. "Despite the departure of bassist and songwriter, Roger Waters, Pink Floyd continues to evolve..." Uhh, no they did not evolve. At all. They became stagnant, bloated with no substance and soulless. The Gilmour era was a shadow of their former self. Anyone who denies it is deaf, dumb and blind.
@msh68653 жыл бұрын
Complete nonsense. Just because ole Rog quit the band, why should the remaining members simply have disappeared into retirement? Personally, I enjoy both the pre and post Waters era PF. Frankly I think some of the work on MLOR and Division Bell are as good as anything they did before Rog tried to singlehandedly destroy the band. Some of it isn't as good. But, it was nice to go to a PF show and not be bashed over head with Roger's preachy antisemitism and 'woe is the world' lyrics.
