Especially since that era is over now. 1965-1995 or so music was incomparable, full of talent, and legends to any other time in history. Or even more precise the 1965-1980 or so was all around pretty special. But I grew up in 80s and 90s so wasn't contemporary with that, so I'll add in the mid-90s too as classic. The internet which we are all watching this on now killed that talent of music unfortunately. But its an amazing resource to find that old music! Imagine having to own all the albums, CDs, or VHS tapes for all the music you can find that you like on KZbin now. So, a blessing and a curse.

I was quite young when this came out and really had no idea it existed. Unless you bought the album or listened to a friend's you didn't know. There was no internet, and you didn't get a lot of long play stuff on the radio or from limited TV exposure. Then one day, I went to visit my sister and her new husband who happened to have one of the coolest record collections I've ever seen: Floyd, ELP, The Who, Black Sabbath ... I dug in. And within that music was this gem. Man were my eyes opened that day. I went from a strict heavy rocker to trippy, progressive fanatic. By the time that weekend was over, I came away with some great music that has stuck with me throughout life. My sister is no longer married to her first husband, but I think I'm more thankful for him than she ever was.

I used to jam this song with a really good friend of mine. He showed me a lot about music through Pink Floyd. Losing him was one of the hardest things I have went through. I love and miss him dearly, and every time I hear this song, it takes me back and I get to laugh with his echoes. Beautiful.

This was the first song on deck ,when i would drive through Cascadia every morning at 4:00. Snow covered roads winding 100 miles to the other side. I did this every day for 9 months. What an inspiration, then and throughout my life.

In 1988, myself and a couple of friends went boating/camping at Lake Powell. We ended up camping at the very end of Navajo Canyon at a spot with a small beach and cliffs towering behind us and across from us. We played this the first night - and the next, etc. It echoed off the walls across from us and sounded so eerie - and appropriate! Small campfire, billions of stars above us - and Pink Floyd. I can't hear this without remembering.

Headphones on, I was meditating to some solo piano piece. Then out of nowhere, just simply out of nowhere the thumping bassline of Echoes hit me hard. The next thing I know, I have this playing and I was transported to another world. I vividly remember watching this over and over on VHS tape a long time back.

To prevent my sons from shop lifting or being deprived of a meal, l handed both of them a credit card, l traveled to El Salvador, and when l came back my credit card statement had a charge for about $600.00, they decided to buy themselves tickets to see Pink Floyd in San Francisco, didn’t know who the fuck Pink Floyd was until they told me what the tickets were for. Now, l can’t get away from Echoes and all their music. I am retired now listening on top of one of my hammocks.

Yeah, Pink Floyd's the greatest ! Seen them 4 times, Dark Side of the Moon just before I turned 18... on 20 hits of Pink Barrel LSD. I had know idea who I was going to see. Arrived at SF Cow Palace on July 1975 flying high just as the first chords struck. Real-time mixed quadraphonic sound and a zeiss planetarium projector! Wow, awesome. I am 64 yo now still in SF. Still listening to them. Sober

AT THEIR PRIME!! The best Floyd ever sounded together. Late 60's thru early 70's, they had it. This recording, More Blues in France, and in The Church in 1971 perfection. Found them in my younger days tripping acid and getting high with my friends. God what a time to be alive. I'd really regret missing the 1995 Division Bell Tour. I was a Senior in High School.

You know there are amazing songs then there is echoes.. Were they creating music or a psychedelic meditation matra based on repetitive riffs.. That song at last uhhhhhhh.. Middle part with eagle crying perhaps over corpses returning back to the begining of echoes.. They can definitely try to bring about such effects in their music but that journey that song takes you through can come from sheer genius of the band that even there are yet not aware of. It's a marvel..humankind please preserve this! I have spent years with this...This is my song for many lives

The clean guitar tone coming out of WEM Starfinders is so huge that it is almost a physical wall on which you can lean. The fuzz sound during the solos is equally full and rich with no harshness. No one ever replicated this majestic sound including Dave himself.
