Back in 1966, when i was but a lad, after midnight some top 40 AM stations would play music of this ilk, called "underground music". I drifted off to sleep many a night listening to psychedelic era music.....Can't believe i am still here, So many of us are gone.

Great compilation, thanks. This era of Floyd is by far their most interesting. I'm 49 now - can't believe I was 11 when I first got into them (it was through a late night screening on ITV of Live at Pompeii in Sept '85 - I videoed it for a family friend!) I saw Roger in 87 (KAOS tour) and the Gilmour-Floyd at Wembley in 88, London Arena in 89 and Earls Court in 94. Great as these shows were, I wished they had played some of the earlier stuff, although perhaps it wouldn't have worked at that time. As much as I enjoy all of their era's (perhaps the Gilmour- led version a little less), it is always to 67-72 I return to. I think Nick has played a blinder in looking 'cooler' than the other two by resurrecting the early years. Thanks again, Ben (btw, I teach British history 1945-1979 at University of Chichester, and I feature a bit of Floyd on the course!)
@chicklets4ever51
@chicklets4ever51 Жыл бұрын
I agree completely with you. I'm a Floydian "of the first hour," having discovered them in '68 at the age of 14, and I too am always returning to the 67-72 period. I actually even lost interest when they went more "pop," starting with DSOTM. I came around to appreciating those albums, too, up to and including The Wall, but they never really measured up, for me, to the more experimental period. Roger's solo stuff is pretty good but lacks the full chemistry of the Floyd. David's solo and post-Roger "Pink Floyd" stuff I find quasi-unlistenable. Guitar solos aren't enough. It's as if he forgot just how imaginative his earlier guitar work with texture and atmosphere actually was. I'm not sure what happened to David. He seems damaged to me.

So back in 95 I think it was I made myself a mixed tape of most of these tracks and called it Canabis rock lol. I even made a front cover and it was basically a Galaxy in the depths of space. My tape also had Cirrus Minor on it. I then told this old guy whom I bought my weed from down the pub that that Summer I would go sit under this tree in a field of meadows I'd seen and smoke a spliff whilst listening to these tracks. He told me something. He said "Son that's just a ideology fantasy. You'll never actually do it". You know what he was right as I never did! Now that was nearly 30 years ago so I'm going to take my IPhone. Go find that field and if the tree is still there....

English translation: Oh God, how I love Pink Floyd! His [sic] 😀extraordinary, enchanting music directly revives you to life, it washes away from you all the sticky cobwebs, all the burden of "gray everyday life" of ordinary routine everyday life. These magical sounds wash you completely and completely, every capillary, every cell of your body and, completely cleansed and refreshed, "release" into the World "". The extraordinary music of this greatest band does wonders for people... Many thanks to the channel for the opportunity to hear previously unknown things "Pink Floyd"...

I'm probably the youngest here. I'm only 50. My acquaintance with the group took place with the song Money. In mono quality, with poor recording. My brother put on the record. He instilled in me a love for good music. And I'm happy that it was Pink Floyd who opened the world of good music to me. I was then 12-13 years old. Brother 16-17. Thanks to him for directing me on this road🙏And the Kingdom of Heaven to my brother🙏 я,наверное,самый молодой здесь.

When I as a kid a had the Relics album, with the amazing song Bike from Syd. And it had other songs like The Nile Song, Axe, Interstellar etc. just around the time Dark Side came out, but it was like a very different world.

Não existem mais clássicos de rock como Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, entre outros tantos. Eram geniais na criatividade e ineditismo. Eram geniais. Curti esses clássicos nas décadas de 60, 70 e 80. Depois desapareceram.
