@@iamupinacloud Wow, that was over 2 years I posted that. Thanks for your post. I totally agree with you. Syd was a genuine star. Like you said he was charamistic and had that aura about him. He was a good guitarist, a frontman which you have to have something if you're the lead singer, guitarist. He was the main songwriter and made Piper with Floyd which is a classic album. See Emily Play is a great track. I like some of his albums Madcap Laughs and Barrett. You can hear there's something great still in there, but his head just wasn't like it was making Piper. I can only imagine how difficult it would have been watching his dearest friends leaving the studio once they'd done their part. Cause the band was on the rise and were insanely busy. On The Wall Movie original script, there was to be a scene when the main character, Pink, would use a guitar just like this. That idea wasn't used on the final version, but now we know where it came from

@@filippogalli3477 You're welcome. I love sharing this rare floydian stories. This was supposed to happen during "Mother". Pink would get up of bed in the middle of the night, while his wife was sleeping. He would go to the window, sit there and toy with his guitar as if it were a rifle, probably remembering his father.

This song was written and sung by Syd Barratt but he isn't even in the video. It is my guess that they felt very guilty over the years abandoning Syd to his own psychosis but never forgot he was there with them at the beginning and inspired them throughout the journey.

Interesting - for me (obviously subjectively), this particular line evokes pure pessimism, being stuck in an endless stream full of whatever your personal demons are, unable to leave the water and thus endlessly living and re-living your situation. At least that means that I don't have to fear losing my optimism, I guess lol I really enjoy hearing about people's perception and interpretation of lyrics, prose and tunes, none of which will ever be identical obviously
