My favorite song of all time! I always wanted to do a proper cover of this song. With the best tone and best phrasing. I did increase the guitar sound a bit more than the studio version because, well, I'm doing a guitar cover :) Hope you like it, I did!

btw man, a while ago I commented mentioning david gilmour used a leslie on syds theme, I just got the strymon lex V2 and it sounds almost exactly like the album my setup is this: strat (neck and bridge obsidianwire gilmour kit) -> phase 95 script 90 mode -> tape delay -> marshall SV20 (any british tube amp will work tbh, the hiwatt doesn't have anything that specific with it) -> (effects loop) -> strymon lex v2 with the dry all the way up (on the lex that's about 50% mix) mic distance about halfway, real slow, with mics placed on the rear side, preamp at zero I find the strong leslie sound you talk about is really easy to tame with blending the dry in, I can even mimic some RA200 like things with the mics placed far away and the dry at noon (which on this pedal is around 75% leslie because the dry knob only mixes in to about 50%). it's not perfect, I can't get the sound of dogs first solo, but I can get comfortably numb pretty good and shine on you crazy diamond sounds perfect just try it, even using the pulse or the rt20, having the rotary mixed real low just adds to it, even though I can't mix the lex quite as low, I kinda like having it a bit higher, it sounds a lot like his live wembly tone for it where the rotary was much louder

You know, lately, after you mentioned, I feel like there IS a Leslie in the chain on the Syd’s theme. I haven’t had a chance to try with low mixed Leslie but the more I play with only phase, more I feel like something is missing. Though, I’m not sure about the solos. I think they don’t have Leslie. I also consider getting lex because of 1972-1974 live tones.

@@mustyguitar yeah, definitely not the solos, but I can hear it in syds theme, it's just kinda smoothing out the distortion and adding that slight metallic/watery thing that choruses, flangers and leslies have there's probably a leslie on the live wembly shine on you crazy diamond solos too and maybe other live versions from that time period either way, I 100% recommend it, the lex v2 is great and even though it won't let you go below 50% mix, it's still pretty subtle if you do get one to review, not sure if you know already but I see a lot of reviewers saying that they don't know what mic distance is, all the way down makes it really tremolo-y/univibe-y like on us and them and brain damage where all the way up is more watery and chorusy and a more subtle sweep

@@mustyguitar it's 100% not on the solos, however, I like it, and I see no reason to turn it off I've been getting all the stuff to do shine on you crazy diamond cause I'm doing it for one of my music HSC performances, I'm mostly mimicing the 74 and 75 tone where he left the phaser and delay (and possible rotary) on for the entire song, only switching between pickups and powerboost on and off, I'm practicallly there I might just replace my pickups for some lower output neck and middle and a higher output one in the bridge which will help, depending on the difference I might be able to just do a pickup switch in the second solo where the distortion comes on at the end instead of distortion cause I feel like it's set up differently on that vs the third solo. I feel like it has less gain on the second solo, so either it's powerboost with less gain or edge of breakup hiwatt with no powerboost. it will also help me switch from the slightly edge of breakup sound in syds theme to the cleaner second solo right after though I will say, the leslie definitely helps tame the distortion a bit so that it just adds the rigth amount of saturation without being too harsh, which is what I think is that thing that you're saying is missing, it's a very smooth subtle drive on syds theme that I think is impossible to recreate without a rotary of some kind, even a subtle chorus or flanger might help smooth it out, cause with a tube amp it does sound a little too fuzzy/fizzy/rough, where the rotary kinda just smooths it out a little making it sound almost clean but with a bit of compression and fat

I'm convinced it's actually a Uni-Vibe on Syd's Theme . The phase 90 seems a bit too directly phasey. Works great elsewhere on the track though.

Actually. Its a script phase 90. But.... I think for syds theme it was definitely an amp cabinet miked up in rows and blended. Its a huuuuuge sound spatially.

the third solo is on the neck pickup, I don't know why everything thinks it's the bridge, it very clearly sounds like the neck pickup, it has the classic strat neck pickup sound that the phaser accentuates (I don't know how to describe it in words, but you know what I'm talking about) it's neck pickup the whole way through, he doesn't switch, you just need a little bit of treble on it
