Definitely! One of my favorite Pink Floyd tribute bands (The Machine) I've seen live, the drummer only uses a set of 3 and it sound's great. I only used this set up because I wanted to cover the original track of the studio album note for note. But you can improvise that beginning anyway you want. Thanks man. Good luck with the samples. Honestly, I don't even know how they really work. I just recorded the rotos on a digital 8 track rec. and sent the audio files to them ( www.alanvista.com ). They took care of the rest. I have a Roland TD V-6 but never tried to use external samples with it. Just no time to play around with it I guess. I have set up a Roto Tom sound for Time, using the already on board Rotos. I have one "kit" designated to it and it requires using all drums, cymbals, and Hi-Hat to cover all the notes so I can cover the tune on the E-Kit if I wanted to. Just have to switch back to a regular drum kit sound right before breaking into the song after the intro.

Thank you very much. I agree. Some of these other recordings from other youtubers sound amazing. I played around a lot, trying to get a good sound with the equipment I have and I'm never happy with the results. I wish I had more knowledge and equipment for sound.

Bad ass! Wow, really well done. I have to ask you about your kick bass. What do you have it tuned to and what kind is it? What heads to you have on it? I've only heard one kick I like better than yours and it's an $3K AandF. So if I can get that sound w/o spending $3k that'd be great! Thanks

Cool. Glad you like it. The kick drum is a 24x16 Pearl Session Series. The head used at the time, in the recording was a Remo Power Stroke Clear Pinstripe. Honestly, I did not do anything special to get that sound. I have always liked a really low sounding kick, so I generally tune it down as low as I can without the lugs falling off. Just enough tension to keep them snug. Inside the kick I had some sound absorbing foam. For the recording, it was Mic'd with a Sure Beta 52.
