@@autohmae I completely agree with you. For anyone who has listened to Pink Floyd recorded or who has been fortunate enough to experience Pink Floyd live there can be no denying the spiritual stirring it creates in the soul. I believe music at its finest, music as an art form is like a facet on a complex and finely cut diamond. A diamond with an infinite number of facets. Each facet represents a particular style, or genre or idea that is expressed in music. I would never make a value judgement comparing Steely Dan with Pink Floyd. I am saying that although quite different from each other they both cause that stirring in the soul. Just when a person thinks they've discovered "the one" something else comes along and shows them the light bent in a slightly different trajectory but still just as beautiful and awe inspiring.

But it got REDUNDANT, BORING, and it was ALWAYS..TALK!! And I also noted that MUSIC was being taken from bands and artists that ACTUALLY PLAY "MUSIC" and stuck in the middle of their "RAP", which tells me that they haven't the abilty to come up with their own ORIGINALITY!! Roger Waters, the absolute master of lyrics! I remember making a similar thing happen with a punk g/f back in the '80s using 'Animals'. If you may recall, punks did not like Pink Floyd, they saw them as the establishment old guard, overcomplicated and out of touch. So I sat Emmy down, put a copy of Animals lyrics in her hand & put the tape on to play. Her reaction was similar to PinkMetalHeads as she realised this 'boring old guard' band was every bit as savage & violent as her punk heroes, the only real difference was subtlety in the presentation by adding a contrast of sublime music.

I have since taken numerous people to see him and changed their lives as well. The music transcends space and time, and the lyrics are universal and way beyond what you normally get in Rock music. Joe, if you can find it, there is an album called "Seen One Earth" by a guy from the band Camel, named Pete Bardens(he passed away a few years ago so you may have to KZbin it). Today's music has NO meaning, No soul, it's all hook if you took the computer out of today's recording's and studio musician's you will have nothing to listen to. That is a fact jack! I for one love to see the record companies make contract decision's about music not money, That goes for radio too. Greta Van Fleet is prime example of good of it can be done.

@Anthony Fremont of negativism So you like someone putting lyrics in front of sound? Too me it's nothing special. As for computer driven music every one has used in Rock as filler not like today's music. To me music should be played by instrument not as cheep and easy to push of a button. Hell I can do that. And as Greta Van Fleet they are a cheap knock off of Zeppelin but they do play instruments. The real problem is schools don't have good music programs AND haven't for decades. Since I was in school.

@@anotherkat4u The first album of Pink Floyd I bougt, was "Animals". The talented Richard Wright plays an awesome Fender Rhodes Piano there (Sheep) and the second album was "Wish you were here". It's kind a dark but brilliantly appealing by it's soundscapes and lyrics. Well, I could not point an album of Pink Floyd that I dislike, though! How wonderful is the part in Dark Side of the Moon called "The Great Gig in the Sky", with Clare Torry's voice... who was mostly improvising this! (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYeldHhpnMaBrsU) ? I have to point you to this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWLNfWt3Z5V7lc0 where the same part is - beautifully! - sung by three women, which in turn shows the talent of miss Torry, who sung the whole part herself! The Wall... it is a class apart. Considering the tension in the group when it was recorded and the professionality of the members, it was apparently hard work too. One thing no-one can take away from the world, is Pink Floyd's music. We're actually very lucky living in this era!

I was on stage photographing PF in 1970 when they OPENED for Hot Tuna and Leon Russell in San Diego. They were on their Atom Heart Mother tour. Here. Here is a link to the photos- www.neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk/photos/index.php/search?album=1&q=jeff+allen Once on the site, click on the first of the 5 links.

Not really. The only band which makes no sense lyrically is probably the mars volta, who are, along with tool, the great band of the last 15 years. Pink Floyd's music is pretty easy to get.

From the Age of Album Oriented Rock came masterpiece concept albums. This one is the best. Pink Floyd, for their years together, has no equal. That lil lady just went to the edge and looked OUT and got blown away. Love it!

Yea Millie, I’ve listened to this song for 40+ years and have never cried. I’ve watched Pink react to probably 5 times and cried every time she does.

Pink Floyd is my favorite band, Dark Side Of The Moon is my favorite album, Time is my favorite song and David Gilmour is my favorite guitarist! No one can reach in and grab you by your soul like DG! I have listened to this since 1973 and it NEVER gets old! Future PF - Dogs and Echoes are a must!

Echoes?? Absolute must...

I would love to hear someone react to Dogs. No one touches that song, and I can understand why as it is really long. Yet I think its one of their most underrated, along with the album it is from, Animals and I think some of Gilmour's best work prior to The Wall. Nice one on suggesting that.

@John Allen: Re your "No one can reach in and grab you by the soul as Dave Gilmour" " ... grab you by the soul... " Soul? Is that what you call them ... soul?? I thought you called them n.. Oh! Oh, I get it! This here is a family channel! OK, so he grabs you by the soul. That's fair enough. Got it. 'Nuff said. HC-JAIPUR

Very true. Pink Floyd did “concept albums” which were meant to be listened to in their entirety and in order. Keep this in mind especially when listening to Animals, Dark Side of The Moon, Wish You Were Here & The Wall. Enjoy!!

You have no idea how heartwarming it is to watch you listen to PF and have the exact same emotional response that I had "back in the day." Dark Side of the Moon was groundbreaking in many ways incorporating rock, jazz, gospel and incredibly good emotionally powerful lyrics. You should definitely sit down (without being on video, which kinda takes you out of the experience) and listen to the whole album in the headphones. You'll be astounded. And then go find Wish You Were Here. "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" is one of the best songs ever written. You'll love it.
