I was 15 when I first heard Dark Side now I'm 65, and bought the album. I listened to it over and over again. Could not believe how brilliant it was and still is. Still one of the greatest albums ever recorded. This album stands alone in its context and its brilliance. Sad that Rick is no longer with us, RIP Richard Wright, Wish you were still here.

The best thing about the Floyd was that they didn't try to be the next Zeppelin; they made their own sound and their own words. Led Zeppelin IV was incredible, and then Dark Side came along. Astounding.

In school, three separate times we had an anti-drug presentation by this Mother. There was a reason behind the song choice, but she showed her daughter dead in a body bag to "Wish You Were Here" - for decades, her face flashed back to me anytime I heard the song so I never listened to Pink Floyd ANYTHING for the longest time. Finally gave "The Wall" album a go, and I have finally been able to enjoy them. I still struggle to listen to that specific song. My favorite artist of all time though is Kate Bush, who was discovered by David Gilmour. :)

Kate Bush is also my favourite artist and I finally got to see her in 2014 before the dawn show my aunt and uncle who were twins and are now both passed are responsible for turning into on to her and my best friend and my uncle both in the 80s tried for a while to get me into Floyd but I was into soul etc and I was having none of it until after a summer of camping a lot And mushrooms wish you were here dropped and I was enlightened ha I'm sat here ready to turn 50 on September 7 and keg my uncle died age 30 and I was 18 and I have memories of him playing wiah you were here on his acoustic guitar because he was absolutely brilliant at guitar but what a great guy he was and man do I wish he was here.. enjoy your life and treat yourself and others well brother Jamie

I was lucky to connect with someone who attended the show back then and they gave me an indepth review. :) It sounds like you had wonderful people with great musical taste around you! :) I am 36, but I definitely always felt like an old soul that was meant to be alive in the 60's-70's, and who knows maybe I was. When this came out we didn't use the word "Dope" to describe it, we smoked it haha. It is nonetheless a timeless classic my teenage son is now learning. ALMOST 50 YEARS LATER it still is undeniably one of the greatest songs ever recorded. Sad too, considering it is about Sid Barret's mental health issues.

Back when it was happening.. Id set my harvesters up with everything to help them work well and played this album and the other Pink Floyd album Animals as they worked on those fall days. Something about the long format narrative nature of those two albums helped us all work from the morning into the evening. Worked very well. Thanks to Pink and my harvesting crew.

I had it on vinyl back in the day - the hidden images in the photos were a trip. Played it on some all-in-one console which did the trick. Kick back in the beanbag and travel. "Search for Jehovah while he may yet be found."~bible

@@rosskstar For me part of the same run were Ravi Shankar, John Coltrane and Beasty Boys. On good speakers though, which are relevant to this day. I had to special order them, local hi-fi stores had the usual crap and overpriced status symbols.

dann haben wir's zur gleichen Zeit damit Bekanntschaft gemacht....für mich war es eine Wende in der Wahrnehmung meiner Umwelt und zwar erkannte ich trotz Kriege und Häßlichkeiten, dass der Mensch, hier die Jungs von Pink Floyd, auch zum Guten imstande sind. Diese Innigkeit, Wehmut in eine reinste Form des Humanen, fernab der Zwietracht und Widersprüchlichkeit des Menschen bzw, desto trotz machte Frohmut... Gruß

I have a hard time listening to anything without waters in it. It's like diet Pink Floyd or Pink Floyd light. I love the intro on the first song. I love pink Floyd. I have two pink Floyd tattoos. Shine on all you crazy diamonds!!!!!
