Wow, that was a lot of cards from one 6x6 paper pad. I wish one day I will be able to layer and create beautiful cards as you do and have less waste. I loved watching you create each set of cards from the beginning. Then when you used the scraps on the last cards I was simply amazed. You should create classes to teach others. Beginner, intermediate and advanced card creators. I would be the first enrollee. Thank you for sharing.

Kristie, have you ever thought about doing a live stream and showing other crafters how you accomplish this??? I am sure we all have extra supplies that we would love to turn into cards for shut-ins or nursing home patients who deserve recognition but for one reason or another do not get it. I work full time so the only days I can devote a whole 7-8 hours to a project like this is on the weekends. But if I knew what to gather together in terms of solid cardstock & enough tape runner refills, embellishments, etc I would plan for a weekend to do this with you. Just an idea!!! ❤️❤️❤️
@KristieMarcotte6 жыл бұрын
Alice Adler I really haven’t ever thought about it before. Even though actual recording time is only about 5 - 7 hours, it takes me way longer to complete the paper pad. I stop the video a lot while I figure out what stamp, sketch, embellishments, etc to use next. I never know exactly what supplies I will need. The only supplies I know for sure that I’ll be using are the 6x6 paper pad and cardstock. And of course the usual tools, adhesives, card bases, etc. 🙂

Wow Kristie, you amaze me. This is a beautiful set of cards. I never think about mixing patterns like you do. I usually use the papers as backgrounds with other cardstocks and sentiments. How is your piercing mat different than other mats, many of us use to craft on? I always look forward to your videos.
@KristieMarcotte6 жыл бұрын
Yvonne Walker Thank you! I’ve always enjoyed mixing patterns. That’s why I enjoy using 6x6’s for cardmaking. The papers usually all coordinate. If the patterns are really busy, I will add solid cardstock to help balance out the cards. The piercing mat I use is just a foam mat from We R Memory Keepers. I don’t like to put holes in the craft mat on my table. 🙂

Weird question, do have to put your left hand down on the cutter to hold it before u lift the blade? The new version I’m using requires that I hold the base down, otherwise whole thing lifts. Seems like cutter arm too tight or base should weigh more. Maybe u just get used to it and always synchronize holding paper on before lifting arm?
@KristieMarcotte6 жыл бұрын
Crafting and Relaxing Hello. I had to check because I’ve never really thought about it. I think you do need to apply a little bit of weight with your left hand. But since you’re already holding paper, it’s really not a big deal. If you just switched trimmer styles, it will probably take some time to adjust. Hopefully you’ll soon love your Tonic trimmer. 🙂
@CraftingandRelaxing6 жыл бұрын
Kristie Marcotte Ok, I bet you are right about adjusting to a new style. I feel like a paper crafter learning for the first time. 😂
@monicasanchez-conrad59476 жыл бұрын
As always you seem to take a really busy paper pad and make it work! I'm wondering in your thought process when you're putting this all together how do you determine your solid paper sizes? Do you purchase them in single sheets or solid packs or in coordinating packs. Like Recollections at Michaels or coordinations at Joanns has both solid and five paper packs that coordinate well together? And the same for the 12 by 12 paper? If you don't end up using all of your solid paper do you have a stash for that as well?
@KristieMarcotte6 жыл бұрын
Monica Sanchez-Conrad Thank you! As far as what size cardstock I use, I don’t really have a preference. I always look through my cardstock stash first. (I have quite a bit) If I don’t have the right colors, I take the paper pad to the store so I can be sure to find the perfect colors. The stores generally carry more 12x12 colors than 8 1/2 x 11. Most of them time I purchase single sheets. But for a few colors, like black or navy blue in this video, I’ll buy the value packs. I only buy the single color value packs. Any unused cardstock gets added to my large paper collection.

Hi Kristie! I've become addicted to your KZbin videos! I have a question about your nursing home project. Are the cards you make TO the residents or for them to use for others? And if they are TO the residents, what do you write in them? I have been making projects for a local nursing home and am thinking about starting to make them cards too. I need some input! Thanks so much!
@KristieMarcotte5 жыл бұрын
Robyn G Aw, Thank you. I’m glad you are enjoying my videos. 😊 The cards I make for the retirement homes are for the residents. I write a message inside each card. I usually provide about 30 cards every month. (The activity coordinator passes out the cards to those he feels needs one.) But for holidays, I make around 90 so every resident will receive one. I keep my messages short, just a few sentences. But I always keep them positive and uplifting and closing with ‘Sending Sunshine and Smiles’.

Do you have a certain measurements you start with when cutting the 6x6 paper. The camera is going so fast looks like you start off cutting each piece the same way?

Karen Cassels I use card sketches for most my cards. All the sketch measurements are listed on my blog if you are interested. I use several different sketches for each 6x6 paper pad. But I usually cut the background piece first, so the cutting may look similar. 🙂
