This pink noise is perfect for mixing. I was working on an electronic folk, Bon Iver type project and it mixed it almost perfect. Now on to the master and then release the demo.

Thanks. I needed something like this to be sure my new speakers were balanced. I don't have any test equipment so am just using my ears. Very helpful.

Why is this so relaxing?
@Replay2012 Жыл бұрын
Pink noise uses a consistent frequency, or pitch, to create a more even, flat sound, like a steady rain, wind rustling through trees, or waves on a beach. Its added depth and lower waves filter out higher sounds. As a result, you hear more relaxing, lower-frequency sounds. Pink noise is often used as a background or control noise because research has found that it is less distracting than other types of noise. For example, one study found that participants became less stressed after listening to pink noise, compared with the typical sounds of an intensive care unit.

I just analyzed it with a real time Yamaha eq-630 (not the best rta) and shows a good flat response better than most pink noises out there in KZbin, I'm shure updating to better quality cables can make a little bit better difference specially in the lower end. Anyways good video, I use it a lot to calibrate my sound equipment thank you
@tobyiy6 жыл бұрын
uhm, im not sure if cables make a difference one would actually notice, unless you currently use wooden sticks or something^^ in my experience this has been the order of importance: Speaker > AudioInput > DAC > Room >> Amp >>> Cables (of course going from a REALLY bad room to a nice one can make a bigger difference than going from a medium DAC to a nice one. but for practical application i think the order holds true)

Except that KZbin streams it at 128kbps and 16 bits. Oh well.
@WDeranged4 жыл бұрын
Yes but it was generated at a higher sample rate to avoid aliasing artifacts and produce a cleaner (more useful for this purpose) sound.
@dannygo42304 жыл бұрын
It should be pretty accurate at the low end right(?), which is the most useful for analyzing frequency response of a room.

Too bad my system don't have built-in pink noise. Used chromecast audio to get sound through system. Not perfect, but gets the job done. This video came in handy with RadioShack spl meter propped up to ear level in my listening chair to finally calibrate my stereo system + dual subwoofers without guessing. Nowadays there's spl apps to sort of get into the ballpark which u are at the mercy of your phones mic. No running HVAC system/ fans/etc. environment noises while calibrating. Set spl meter on C-WEIGHT and response to SLOW. Wear ear plugs if you want. Set volume control to 75 db for main speakers powered individually. Use balance control for each speaker or unplug individually. Power both speakers on and it should read ~78db. Now with main speakers totally off and disconnected, power up subwoofers on one at a time, I set mine up at 72 db for both subs = ~ 78 db. Room acoustics is the deciding factor for first db readings. May have to +-3 db to get 78 db with both subs driven. Although 75db is recommended for subs to match main speakers, I always found it to be thin sounding. Hope this helps anyone on how to use pick noise for speaker calibration purposes. Note: For more accurate readings, allow audio system as a whole to warm-up (30 min- 1 hour) to get everything within specs before calibrating. AudioGuy signing out.....

Thanks for this. I followed a graph for my headphones on rtings.com and I flipped the raw response graph and EQ'd it to make my headphones "flat". My meter on my phone I have set to C weighted and there was a dip between 2500hz to 3500hz which i fixed through the EQ. Is a flat graph when C weighted the desirable sound that will make my headphones sound neutral?

so i must hear this while im mixing my tracks?
@Gredran9 жыл бұрын
Since it's equal frequencies throughout the spectrum, with lows being the loudest, highs being the softest, you mix everything so it's barely(but still there) audible in the track. The spectrum of pink noise should be where most mixes come from. It's a rough thing though, so you have to do further mixing once you balance to the noise

Sorry , but it's not a pink Noise ..it's a white Noise ..a white noise is like (chute d'eau , pluie , etc... ) , a pink Noise is that : kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3_JaqGwq9OXZ80 ... Do not confuse a sinusoidal signal (very round and harmonious sound) with a square or even cut signal that can be imitated from an old steam engine, wind etc.
