This is not uncommon at all. People are very ignorant of the law, because it's just not talked about a lot. That being said, I know because people share these kinds of stories at shared kitchens and such, because they figure it out and try to make it right. I've known way to many people who have much better products that don't get a break like her, and wouldn't have wasted it. I have 0 sympathy for her. She had more help and more chances than most and deserves every L for not accepting any of the blame.

This is far more than a failed product. She's completely ruined her life. There's no way she'll be able to keep her company open for much longer. Eventually, she'll run out of funds. After that, she'll have to look for a job. She has a family to feed and bills to pay. But no one will want to hire her due to how she conducted herself with Dave's Gourmet. But even then I'm sure she only cares about not having money for herself. I wish more people pointed out the disgusting fact that she spoiled herself with lavish goods while knowing her own children didn't have school supplies or even enough to eat. I honestly hope she loses custody of them down the line because that absolutely falls under neglect.

There are guidelines for restaurants and cottage industries to follow and then if there are complaints the FDA looks into it, but you literally only get their approval for medical equipment or for new few additives that are not currently approved.

But instead people acted like she didn't know what the F in FDA stands for. Food. But she said more than that and also emphasises the word APPROVED multiple times. Literally when I was just looking this up one of the most influential and well known food scientists is saying what she said was 100% correct and people are spreading misinformation. Focus on the guidelines she broke and say she did that instead of pointing to the one time she actually said something right, try to clown on it and justify it. If she had done her due diligence researching guidelines pertaining to her business. What is under the purview of the FDA is making sure food products are manufactured and distributed in a manner consistent with public safety. Shipping perishable products not following guidelines is completely on her. She's incredibly lucky she didn't get anyone sick or worse. That's the F in FDA. Yeah Spirulina is pretty popular. It's a farmed algae that can be powdered. It's actually very vibrant and pigmented naturally blue or green colored. It's also very natural and has many health benefits. Alot of people add it to their shakes or cake frostings/whippings because it makes a very beautiful blue color or green color. A good substitute for green and blue food colorings instead. So alot of people have been experimenting with it.

I think one of the main issues with Pink Sauce that no one talks about is the fact that no one wants bright colored sauce/spice all over their food all the time. People might purchase it once to try it out. Maybe they'd purchase it again as a novelty gift. But thats it?!?! She's banking her success on a product that will never become a staple in anyone's kitchen. Also, bright pink sauce does not look appetizing on normal colored, SAVORY food to me. Bright pinks and blues are usually for sweet foods. That alone is difficult to get over. I couldnt imagine putting that sauce all over anything. I'm even tempted to say that humans resisting brightly colored foods is a survival response lol.
