I had this taxi ride from one of Moscow's airports into the city about 1999 past lots of half completed office and apartment blocks many needing to be restarted. The driver explained that they were being built with no money. All the contractors would apply their trades to the construction and would be paid with a share of the apartments when finished. It was all done on trust. On the CD player: Pink Floyd

Any colour you like is just as good as any other song in DSOTM. Any colour you like isn't a throwaway track in this album. It's a throwback for all of us, lucky listeners, to all the colourful memories of the past. Any colour you like is all your emotions mixed. Any colour you like is David's Guitar, Richard's keyboard, Nick's Drums and Roger's Bass. Any colour you like gives you the opportunity to select any colour you like and travel through it.

This is by far the best version of Any Colour You Like I've heard. It has such a lovely blues groove to it. This might be the period when Pink Floyd were at their best, when they dared to experiment and allowed themselves to let loose. I once heard someone describe Led Zeppelin as psychedelic blues, and as much as I love Led Zep, I think that description fits the Floyds even better.

"...just every moment of it so precise and perfect artistry....". "Dark Side" certainly is that. Especially so when you realise that Claire Torry - who was called in to sing "The Great Gig In The Sky" totally improvised the whole performance ! Yes that's right - she was told to just do whatever came to her as she went along ! The result could / should have been chaotic, but is actually a melodious tune that has a structure to it ! Quite astonishing when you think on it.

This and Breathe are the two most listened to tracks on DSOTM to me! I love both. Breathe shows off Dave's Jedson steel lap guitars and this REALLY shows off Rick Wright..who is terribly missed! I'm privileged to have been able to have seen him play 4 times - flawlessly!

This is masterpiece. It's as valuable as DaVinci art. You know, they talk about depth of Mona Lisa smile. Same thing is here. I wish i have a son someday and i'll turn this tune on and i'll keep him in my hands and we will listen to this song. It's very male music, i think. Its something from father to son. Unbelievable...just can't believe in that sound, it is miracle...

Usually lyrics are expressed in words, but with Pink Floyd they are also expressed through music, without the need for lyrics. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, I say that a David Gilmour guitar chord, or Richard Wright’s keyboard equals a thousand words, you just have to close your eyes and open your ears to read them. In (Any Color You Like) the thought behind this song expresses the illusion that man has the power to choose. At least that's what Roger Waters said.

I play in a Pink Floyd cover band. In every show we play Dark Side cover to cover. This is one of the most fun tunes to play live. It’s a jam based in two main chords but we bring out more of the funk in this. I get the wah pedal going and really drive the energy.

Terrific version of one of my personal fave PF songs. Dark Side is to modern music what War and Peace is to the novel, or what The Godfather is to movies, or what Apollo 11 is to transportation, etc., etc.

Thanks to my dad that introduce me to pink floyd! They were able to let me live what my dad feel when he firts heat this album back in the 70’s!
