I had this taxi ride from one of Moscow's airports into the city about 1999 past lots of half completed office and apartment blocks many needing to be restarted. The driver explained that they were being built with no money. All the contractors would apply their trades to the construction and would be paid with a share of the apartments when finished. It was all done on trust. On the CD player: Pink Floyd

Any colour you like is just as good as any other song in DSOTM. Any colour you like isn't a throwaway track in this album. It's a throwback for all of us, lucky listeners, to all the colourful memories of the past. Any colour you like is all your emotions mixed. Any colour you like is David's Guitar, Richard's keyboard, Nick's Drums and Roger's Bass. Any colour you like gives you the opportunity to select any colour you like and travel through it.

This is by far the best version of Any Colour You Like I've heard. It has such a lovely blues groove to it. This might be the period when Pink Floyd were at their best, when they dared to experiment and allowed themselves to let loose. I once heard someone describe Led Zeppelin as psychedelic blues, and as much as I love Led Zep, I think that description fits the Floyds even better.
@henryalbrecht29307 жыл бұрын
Per Sjödin Led is definitely bluesy and psychedelic... but I agree. Pink Floyd is quintessential bluesey psychedelic

"...just every moment of it so precise and perfect artistry....". "Dark Side" certainly is that. Especially so when you realise that Claire Torry - who was called in to sing "The Great Gig In The Sky" totally improvised the whole performance ! Yes that's right - she was told to just do whatever came to her as she went along ! The result could / should have been chaotic, but is actually a melodious tune that has a structure to it ! Quite astonishing when you think on it.

Usually lyrics are expressed in words, but with Pink Floyd they are also expressed through music, without the need for lyrics. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, I say that a David Gilmour guitar chord, or Richard Wright’s keyboard equals a thousand words, you just have to close your eyes and open your ears to read them. In (Any Color You Like) the thought behind this song expresses the illusion that man has the power to choose. At least that's what Roger Waters said.

I just hope that i will be able to transmit to my son after 60 years the passion for good music! The meaning of this album and the feelings that give you is something that should be teacheds at school! Unfortunately good rock is dead! He just poisoon my soul after i heared from the first time! Thanks to my dad that introduce me to pink floyd! They were able to let me live what my dad feel when he firts heat this album back in the 70’s!
