Hi there! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch! Traditionally, from what I understand, a book of shadows was just blank pages. In the modern Era, there are some who don't mind, even prefer, the imagery to compliment their book of shadows. The spell work is put in by the recipient as, from what I understand, it's a highly personal process. Not just the spells but the book in general. Hope this helps a bit! April, sorry I thought I'd commented on this last week you must think I've forgotten all about you !! I love this journal, gorgeous as always!! I love this kit, I have it but I've not used it yet. The images are beautiful and they look amazing when they are all put together. I've also got some of the cards with the herbs and elements from studio 24 (sorry if I have the name wrong). I also brought the moon phases set, I'm fascinated by the moon and how it affects us. I'm thinking of making a journal with the moon as the theme. As much as I definitely love your book, I wouldn't add so much ornaments because it would be rather uncomfortable for me. I love to both write and draw so my Book is kind of a weird mixture of long texts and illustrations straight out of medieval grimoires. I have the constant urge to redraw these illustrations even if they took me a lot because they don't look "old enough" and I hate it. By the way, may I ask where did you get the small cards with herbs and their descriptions?? Thanks in advance and take care. ♡

For sure I understand this kind of book is not for everybody however I do make several books that are either highly embellished or very moderately embellish depending on the person who decides to use it. Some people like to use them as look books. Some people like to use them as working books. I love both types equally and I will continue to make both types. The cards came from style 24 designs. @@PinkOddBird The thing is "Book of Shadows" is not an artistic object so there is no artistic point of view. You write stuff, you draw stuff with a blessed pen/pencil you almost use your own blood and sweat to create book of shadows. You don't glue or tape stuff.

Yes i am not the gate keeper of the book of shadows (that would be an awesome job title) but i know how book of shadows are made and that is not a book of shadows.

And if someone prefers to have a book of shadows, that has "bos" related imagery in it as they use their "blood and sweat" to continue creating inside of it....I think it's THEIR prerogative. Not really your call to make I don't believe. From my understanding a book of shadows is a very personal thing, which indicates there is PERSONAL preference involved (whether it's drawn, taped or glued in). So why is it you feel that YOUR preferred vision of a book of shadows is the only correct one? I hate to say it but it does sound a little like gatekeeping. I've created many book of shadows and those who own them are having no qualms creating in them as they wish. 🙁 I'm sorry you feel the way you do, but thanks for sharing your opinion.

Jade there's no reason to be deliberately obtuse. It's a book of shadows in a junk journal style. That's obvious even if it wasn't being stated. If it's not the book of shadows for you that's fine, but there's no reason to dump on it. You're not the definitive source of what makes a book of shadows a book of shadows. And if you consider yourself a witch in even the slightest degree you would do well too consider how much negativity you're putting out into the world with negative comments like these.
