Pity that the plot is not like the book at all! If people are going to make movies, why can't they stick to the book material instead of taking the characters and setting but then going on a wild tangent?
@sineadlucas36824 ай бұрын
@jaimicottrill2831 I think because there have already been multiple versions of Pride and Prejudice committed to film. There's the 2005 film, but also the BBC tv series in 1996 (not entirely certain on the date) as well as other, earlier productions. Pride and Prejudice has arguably, in its "original" form, been done to the death. If you want to watch more book accurate versions, then you have those available to you. I love this film because it's different. It takes a story I love in a new and interesting direction. It won't be to everyone's taste, but that's fine. The good thing is that if you don't think you'll enjoy it then you don't have to watch it.
@jaimicottrill28314 ай бұрын
@@sineadlucas3682 Good point about it being done to death, as you say. I'm a bit of a book snob it seems 😅. But the BBC adaption in 1996 will always be the truest and most faithful to the book for me.

@jaimicottrill2831 if you haven't had ever actually bothered to read the source material for this film, which is the actual novel pride and prejudice and zombies, you would know that it is actually a pretty fairly faithful adaptation. Complete with pretty standard revenge fantasies held by most of us that love the original novel but never get to actually see in it due to the mores of the time.

The zombies were utalizing the consumption of pig brains as a way to keep from falling into a mindless horde state so they could outmanoeuvre the humans. Thats how they were able to outsmart them during the battle like Mr. Darcy said. Because the humans didnt think that the zombies would be smart enough to actually carry out a strategy. So it wasnt in fact "lame" of Mr. Darcy to feed them human brains .... I put to much thought into this😂

So this now being full out war, Darcy made the very not lame decision to take out the zombie leadership. Best choice he could make to save lives. Living people vs the dead who want to eat you. The book is actually _Pride and Prejudice_ with parts taken out and other parts put in. The publisher had the idea for the mashup, and got Seth Grahame-Smith to write these added portions to the book. I don't think the book is that great, but Grahame-Smith did go on to write _Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter,_ which was written as if it were a biography of Lincoln, and I thought that was pretty good. PPZ did have some sequel books written by Steve Hockensmith. There was a publishing trend following the publication of PPZ to do other mashups of famous works, such as _Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, Mansfield Park and Mummies, _ and _Android Karenina._

I am so happy you guys reacted to this movie. It's so silly but also fun. Benji breaking out(kinda) into the Into The Woods song, makes me want to see The Pink Popcast react to the filmed 1991 stage version with Bernadette Peters, it's so so good!

That movie is just stupid fun and of course it's a fanfic. It was published as a parody in 2009, there's also one about Sense & Sensibility with sea monsters 🤣

This is such a guilty pleasure movie for me lol. It’s definitely a movie that you don’t watch to take seriously, but I do genuinely enjoy how they weaved the zombies into the historical aspect. Mainly though, I watch this movie for Lilly James and for Matt Smith as Mr. Collins who is actually one of, if not my favorite version, of Mr. Collins. People can say what they want about this movie, but he was truly an inspired casting choice and plays it extremely well😂

YES haha I’m so happy my comment and others’ from P&P has manifested into this reaction. I didn’t expect this movie to be a favorite of mine, but it somehow captured the soul and banter between Darcy and Lizzy while still managing to add zombies into the mix… ;-) Also, the fight between Darcy and Lizzy reminds me so much of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan fighting together during PoC 3 as Captain Barbosa marries them…. This is the only P&P adaptation that doesn’t make my brother fall asleep and he thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Ig you’d have to prepare yourself….

Rizzo exclaiming "oh, Charles Dance is in this!" as he's literally narrating the intro xD And I still maintain you should watch the BBC mini series of Pride & Prejudice, if only for the iconic wet shirt scene ;) Matt Smith can make any character likeable, it's bizarre. Oh, and I want all of Lizzie's coats.

yeah, as others have said this film adaptation is in places more book accurate than the Pride & Prejudice film you reacted to, in some cases even the costumes in this are more accurate, because the director of the Knightely P&P just happened to prefer costumes from a slightly earlier time period and like most filmmakers, refused to work with bonnets.
