@UnlimitedProduction1
@UnlimitedProduction1 5 жыл бұрын
It's definitely recency bias. What the 90s had that dead today however is nuance. The 90s was about counterculture so there was no outrage culture. Instead the nation pushed the boundaries. You had children's cartoons with humor parents would get, sitcoms about themes that conservative 80s would rage over, the rise of adult cartoons that dealt with things never before seen (Simpsons, South Park etc) but politically it was still a mess. Newt Gringrich (possibly spelled his name wrong) for example made a big deal out of EVERYTHING Clinton did and that form of extremists political assassination has gotten 10x more extreme to this day. Still the 90s were a good time

The president and I are pleased with the manner in which we are moving towards the 21st century, by building a very long bridge made of wood. A wooden bridge may work... This wooden bridge will lead us to prosperity... As we cross this bridge we have built, to stand upon a platform built by contribution... Though in building this bridge to the 21st century, the president and I urge caution to guard against unfounded worries about inflation...

My youngest brother (by 12 years) started to refer to myself (I'm the eldest 'smart one') and our middle one as 'Pinky and the Brain" years ago, so we asked him - "what that?". After watching the first few episodes, boy did we laugh! Roadrunner was fun. Bugs v. Daffy was fun. Duck Dodgers was hilarious. Sesame Street sketches were aimed at kids but targeted at adults (they're STILL fun). Pinky and the Brain were/are the best. Point being - rewatch the original episodes, because should it be 'rebooted', it'll be a fun-free, joke-free, joy-free disaster, as it 'might offend someone, somewhere'. Are you pondering what I'm pondering?

Of course, now, politicians can’t take a joke. Or criticism. Or tell when something’s a joke, or when it’s just supposed to be offensive, and they cling to the “Just Joking” justification to try and save face when people don’t laugh or agree. But then, people consider me worse for not taking a side, let alone going as hard on one side as possible in response to the other side. But I digress. Pinky and the Brain is at least smart about its humor. Well, until they brought Elmyra in...

@John Walker Well judging by the comment section, quite a few people don't like Trump jokes (at least the ones that are so blatant and don't really carry a good sense of timing which is about 8/10 times).

And I thought Animaniacs did a lot of jokes about certain political figures it feels like this show leaned hard into the very idea of making lots of jokes about different political parties not that thiers anything wrong with that but I just noticed it seems to be a bit more apparent in this show
