I love the elevated track and large city buildings
@TravisTheLionHeart8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I really wanted it to look congested and cluttered in the urban areas

I love this old city... reminds me of an old super hero comic book or movie. I can see Superman stopping two colliding steam powered passenger trains on the urban elevated tracks! Very cool layout
@TravisTheLionHeart4 жыл бұрын
Maybe I should add a resident super hero to make sure something like that doesn't happen haha

This video illustrates why urban settings are much better for modeling than rural areas, and the work is enough to fill years of spare time. Those Colorado narrow gauge trains fit small spaces better than standard gauge trains, but the Colorado Rockies are hard to fit into a typical spare room.

The elevated railway reminds me of the old South Shore railway in Chicago that went to South bend Indiana. Very impressive layout. I would have loved having that as a teenager.

Superb. Well done. Sort of makes me think of Chicago - don't know if that's the intent. Great wit in the detail and the change to night is brilliant. Those signs are works of art.
@TravisTheLionHeart4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Mark. Chicago wasn't directly the inspiration, but the windy city is definitely one of my favorite American cities, so it's no doubt it worked it's way in the design a little bit. Absolutely love night themes and ambient lighting, thank you for noticing

Aye fellow modelers just wondering, do you construct your own buildings or mainly use kits?

Kits and modified/kitbashing over here, but I've seen some truly remarkable scratch made structures before

@TravisTheLionHeart4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. Ah Semi Streamlined 4-6-2 Baltimore & Ohio. The engine and color scheme came from IHC. I custom painted the cars to match. It's always been my favorite train

@@TravisTheLionHeart oh, cool! I thought it might be B&O, it reminds me of the royal blue. Also, the B&O went right past my house. The tracks are just past my front yard, and they are operated by the buffalo and pittsburgh railroad now.
@TravisTheLionHeart4 жыл бұрын
@@nicholmansgarage3501 good eye! The royal blue is definitely the closest train I can find to it. Such a looker. I'm in old Atlantic coastline railroad territory down here

@@TravisTheLionHeart that's cool! I am actually starting to build my first layout, a 5' x 3' 6" ho layout set in the southewest. I am using 18" radius curves and city classics buildings. I will eventually extend it with a switching puzzle added to one end. Today, I am going to build the framework.
@TravisTheLionHeart4 жыл бұрын
