I think any true bassists know tone come from the fingers. It’s all about touch

Tone is stored in the balls

That's a part of it but no, strings themselves have an enormous effect on tone.

90% of your tone comes from your fingers. The other 10% comes from the fingers on your other hand.
@FunkadelicPancho8 ай бұрын
@@DanAfricano is that why Pino plays a P bass with flats? If he can just get 90% of that exact tone with his fingers on single coils or soapbars with rounds why doesn't he just do that?

That is one cool dude. Love Pino. His Fretless work is unmatched; but his work with D’Angelo was awesome; especially on the P-Bass. It’s about TONE; and he definitely has it!😌🎶🎸👍🏾

It's weird he says he's not that experienced in slap...he did spectacular slap solos and bass lines with Paul Young, a lot harder than what Flea does imo...That slap solo on "Behind your smile" for instance

I put 24k gold plated round-wound strings on my fretless Fender Jazz bass and I never intend on changing them. They truly do settle in and hardly go out of tune. I’m don’t recommend using round wound strings on a fretless because it chews up the fretboard, but that’s just what I wanted for some extra snappiness when slapping. I used to put round wounds on it from time to time but it didn’t suit my style.

I use the same Thomastik strings that Pino does, they’re expensive as hell but they haven’t corroded at all, I’ve had the same set for years.

The voodoo ones are labella jamerson .110
@myworms2 ай бұрын
@@jrdPalacios I haven’t tried them but I’ve heard they’re very high tension, compared to the Thomastik strings which are loose and more ideal for vibrato and bends.

If you put hand lotion on a new set of flats it will deaden the strings so they sound older.

The Sex Pistols stole equipment from Keith Richard's Mansion when he was Touring w the Stones. They recorded their 1st Album with it. lol I know that the Guitarist and Drummer were prolific in "Break and Enters" before the Pistols to fund their existence. After the Pistols ended they went to SAmerica to hang out w Ronnie Biggs, "The Great Train Robber". Ronnie was the one who funded the Pistols to play the Queen's Jubilee.

I'm making an educated guess: It sounds as if it was not on and they took ambient sound either from another mic or from the camera. Been there, done that, cried in my sleep about it...
