I love this game so much. I wish someone would make a video of just them playing it and having fun without any dialogue. The game sounds amazing on its own. But your videos w/ dialogue are great too, especially when I need help playing it.

I generally play pirate hunter in this game, mainly because I don't like being the bad guy, secondarily because taking cargo ships and sacking cities tends to drive down the overall wealth in the game. Taking out pirates and Indian war parties also improves the Caribbean economy. As a pirate hunter you CAN carry treaties and escort new governors. You may have to engage non-pirate ships, but if you don't fire on them (just run away) you can protect the mission without officially annoying anybody. I like to get my initial promotions off of no-name pirates and let the named pirates accumulate more gold. Named pirates are good for getting the later, harder promotions. Hmm. Now I have to dust off the game and play it again.

You should be waiting as long as possible to capture famous pirates as they will have more gold the longer you wait. When I captured Henry Morgan he had almost 100,000 gold.

I'm struggling with dancing. I danced like 15 times and managed to get only 2 adequate, hand kiss, results. I prefer the strategy you use here though, pirate hunting and staying on the good side of all the nations, so I guess I will just have to keep practicing.

You won't accumulate very much gold going after only pirates--unless you leave the notorious ones alone for about 10 years of game time--I've gotten more than 35,000 gold from Blackbeard alone using that strategy. My modus operandi is to shake down the Spanish for most of the game, getting promotions from the English, French, and Dutch by doing so--at least one of them is usually at war with Spain. Baron Raymondo, Montalban, the Treasure Fleets, and juicy military payroll ships are all good reasons to attack the Spanish. Plus you can build up large crews and keep them happy for a long time if you have a lot of gold. I use those large crews (275 men or more) to sack wealthy Spanish cities like Havana and Santiago, which yields a lot more gold than capturing ships. In the western Gulf of Mexico, it's often a good idea to capture Campeche, Villa Hermosa, or Vera Cruz and make it English, French, or Dutch to give yourself a friendly port in the region. Also that's where the Lost Cities usually are. For the enemy cities that have large garrisons, you can get pirates and Indians to attack them to whittle down their troops to the point where you can defeat them. This is a valid reason to actually be on good terms with the pirates! There are lots of ways you can play of course, and probably most of them are viable.

I realized my strategy involved a lot of dance spamming, hence the speeding up of the dance routines. If it is still intrusive, I can always kick up the speed even faster for them :P
