@Lu-ys9cw5 жыл бұрын
The amazing native bean believed to have been found in a clay pot sealed with pitch in a cave in New Mexico. When carbon dated, the tests showed it to be 1500 years old! Long vines climb to 10’ and produce tasty pods. Beans are large and kidney-shaped, white with maroon mottling. A very rare collector’s bean. From Rare seeds. com. Baker creek.
@Lu-ys9cw5 жыл бұрын
This was one review from rare seeds . Com. I bought them to try. I have not planted yet myself 😁. REVIEW - These did take a while to grow and I do think I put them in pretty late since I have to start a garden from raw land this year and it all took a while. They did not grow fast at first. I planted some buckwheat in front of them and that soon seemed to take over the beans. I kind of let it do its thing. I barely weeded, barely watered, just let them climb up and over a 4 foot fence and now in very late September am harvesting gallon after gallon of dried and nearly dried pods. The beans are beautiful and big but I have not cooked them up yet. Unless we dont'tlike the taste I am planting at least double next year.

I live in Texas and do essentially the same thing, but a lot more easily. I run a top wire and I hang string with a large steel nut tied on the end that dangles right at ground level. This keeps the plant straight up and down and I only have to attend to them when they're just little bitty ones looking for a place to wrap around. I help them like you did and then just forget about things.

@OldAlabamaGardener4 жыл бұрын
@@Servants_Heart Zone 8, I believe you could get 3 plantings with some tricks. For planting number 1, I would start my plants in the house and transplant out when the weather warmed up enough. 2d planting could be direct sow, and the third planting direct sow but timed it to produce before first frost in the autumn. As to pressure canning. pinto beans at the shell out stage are what you would want for canning. For dry beans, leave them on the vines until they get dry enough to crack and easily come out of the shell. OAG
