@@filimontilahun3003 the Greek word for church in the entirety of the new testament and as far as I know in the Greek septuagint of the old testament is Ecclesia which means an assembly, or a congregation of people. The church is the people united to Christ, not a building or hierarchy. Acts 20:17-18, 28 says From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called for the elders of the church. And when they had come to him, he said to them...."Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood." The Elders which is presbuteros in Greek and is where the word priest originated from, were called to meet with the Apostle Paul. Paul told them to watch over themselves and all the flock, that is the church (Ecclesia) which Christ purchased with His own blood. They were to be overseers which is episkopos in Greek, which literally can be translated as bishops. So the bishops/presbyters where to Shephard and care for the church, as they serve us the church, not the other way around. Please read 1 Corinthians 3:1-17. Christians are the church, and the bishops are servants to the church.

He was a Catholic. I asked him how he could be a Catholic and when Pinochet was a Catholic. He could not give me an honest answer. Hope this does not come out as rude...but at one point I understand why the Church was unsure how to deal with the Soviet: when the Pope spoke out against another dictator, the repercussions were terrible for many groups (both the Catholics and the Jewish communities). Same happened in Japan: for decades after the Shogun banned Christianity in the Country, Rome kpet sending missionaries, and the Shogunate saw that as a proof that indeed the Catholic powers wanted to invade the Country through the faith, thus intensifying the persecution of the small Catholic communities left in the South. But yes, it was terrible never the less; and I am glad the Eastern Catholics are still a reality; now, tho, there's something worse than fear: indifference seems to be pervasive in the West, and this weakens a lot of rings in this chainmail. We ought to pray more, and risk more...the challenge is on our shoulders, and yet God's yoke is light; this time of apparent defeat should be seen as a difficult gift, a moment to prove the worth of our words, an opportunity for "glory".

Supposing that in the Pope his defects were more predominant than his virtues ... What good these "defects" have done us because it is evident that they have caused Pharisaism, purism, self-righteousness, the moralism that we hid in the bottom of our hearts to emerge. ! Now to see a man like Cardinal Scola say the same in other words, it comforts me and GOD wants all those systematic critics of the Pope to listen to him. I mean, they are not going to say that Scola is a modernist, if the most conservative wings pushed for him to be elected Pope in the last conclave. And not only that, it is gratifying that he also emphasizes the quote from Benedict XVI that I have been repeating for the last few years due to a false conception that faith is primarily a doctrine. Cardinal Scola says: "Francis shares the opinion of Benedict XVI that Christianity is not primarily a doctrine or an ethic, but a personal encounter with Christ within the church community" And I repeat again: Can one be orthodox in doctrine and not have a daily, personal meeting congruent with our LORD? Of course! Let us not forget that those who plotted the death of our LORD were "experts in law and doctrine." Let us thank GOD because he has given us a Pope who is hitting our ego, our pedantry! Hi Matt. I appreciate your content and have been enlivened in my faith journey because of it. I'm curious if you have plans to interview someone who appreciates and enjoys Pope Francis? I wonder sometimes if frequent voicing struggles with His Excellency is helpful for the Church at large. It seems often times to me that the situation of our Church/Rome is not desolate or completely for want in the manner Fr. Jason is describing about the Ukrainian Church, but rather that people who skew a bit more traditional are upset about things they disagree with Pope Francis on. Fr. Jason even uses "betrayal" in this video, which feels like a pretty strong word to describe Pope Francis's papacy. I wonder if there is more to the story, rather than labeling Pope Francis a "bad Pope." Perhaps someone who enjoys him could bring that further to light. Curious of your thoughts?
