Great job Rubedo! As Claude mentioned on Discord already, the existence of the Mound Makers and Hodrick's dialogue probably further strengthens the idea of death as family. Also, since you had the idea of Pinwheel being a former Way of White cleric for the occult path and reasons you mentioned, I think you also were the one who pointed out that the seal that displays when he teleports during his fight is identical to Gwyndolin's and some of Gwynevere's miracles. Once again, good job.

A nice summary of death in the Dark Souls games, and I like the idea that death in DS is a collective thing, it makes sense and that extra small coffin in Nito's room is new to me! Glad that DS1 still holds surprises after all these years. The only thing I'd add is that the Death Soul in DS1 seems to have only one host, that being Nito. Unlike the other three souls he never shares it with any other beings, as in the original Patch 1.0 version of Dark Souls 1 you get no souls from killing skeletons in the catacombs (and I think Tomb of the Giants). The skeletons you fight are not even alive in the hollowed sense, they are essentially puppets controlled by the power of the death soul itself, and as such have no life essence that can be released in soul form (They changed that purely for balance reasons, same with the non firekeeper bonfire warping). That also lends itself to the idea that Pinwheel is not originally a death soul creation, and is instead a former god (light soul being) while the necromancers are humans. DS2 does change this as it introduces the Finito and Milfanito, which are pretty explicitly creations of Nito using the death soul. I don't mind this change as DS2 melds the original lore in interesting ways, but I'm not a huge fan of the melding together of the dark and death souls in places like the undead crypt. DS1 does explicitly make those different concepts while DS2 sort of lumps both of them together under the idea of the dark, something which DS3 would then flanderize into the ground. Anyway good video, it makes me wonder what more there is that I've missed in these brilliant games!

Even if you do not make videos any more, I tremendously respect the jaunts into discovery and clarification you've made for some of my favourite games and i subbed regardless.

Nice dive! I think this video helps explain some stuff about Destined Death, Ones that live in Death, and properties in Maliketh's Black Blade in Elden Ring. Nito His Rite of Kindling seems particularly intresting when you look at the red hue of the item and compare it to the redness of the Rune of Death. I wonder how the witches occult practice really works opposed to necromancy?

good stuff buddy. Like how you kept it short, nothin superfluous, respected the viewer's time. brevity is the soul of wit, after all. keep it up.

Glad ya liked it, Drae. Hoping to keep most of my content at around the fifteen minute mark or below. Nothing drags more than an absurdly long video that fails to conclude anything.

I always like to think pinwheel stole Nito's power to resurrect his family, but instead found immortality. He reanimated his family by forever having them attached to his body.
