2:45 that’s probably because these will only be purchased for mostly pre-2000s vehicles that have only a single DIN opening. The iDatalink Maestro doesn’t support a lot of those year ranges so I guess Pioneer didn’t see the need to include that as an option

i'm not sure how i feel about this review as the cons are a bit nitpicky for what it is. comparable devices vary wildly ($200-$1,000) that aren't straight outta china, and you immediately compared it to a DOUBLE din head unit by a figurehead company owned by Epsilon (Korean technology). the touchscreen appears pretty responsive for not being capacitive and i'm not sure why the gripe about the screen not being "HD". like what kind of dpi do you need out of a 7" car display? are you playing call of duty on it?. idatalink meastro compatibility is also moot unless your car doesn't have an integrated dash display which most next models also have. regardless, i appreciate you taking the time to go so in-depth with the features and functionality.

For the money they're asking it should be HD! I would like to have that extra crispiness in the album art and whatever visuals I'm looking at. The cheapest tablets have HD. not talking 4K but at least 720.

This unit doesn't have HDMI. You need to use the AV input with our mirroring kits.

Is there a way to prevent the screen from hinging into that 90 degree position, and instead it just extends out? I want to mount the headunit so the front of it, points to the sky. Therefore when the screen retracts, its already in a viewable position for me, and I do not need it to continue opening. Is this possible?

As shown in the testing, 21W RMS per speaker. For a subwoofer you'll need an external amplifier to power it

It really depends on what you want. Do you feel that you need Apple Carplay? If that's the case, you'll have to get a single din motorized stereo.

haha this was my only complaint really other than the interface is kinda ... .clunky (until you get into android auto or carplay) I had a hard time getting this to fit in my car with how many wires there are on this head unit... That said ... so far so good... I needed a single DIN and I wanted androiod auto .. this fit the bill , and even though pioneer today iisn't the pioneer of old, it's doing the job I don't understand the RCA video outputs and stuff though... seriously RCA video? and who is going to use all those extra plugs to hook up redundant devices? also the UI is clunky .. maybe i need to update the firmware idk. (just installed it yesterday)

also ... having the aux jack on the back.. why? Why not just put iit on the front? I don't use AUX very often at all but I still don't udnerstand that thought process. you have to basically keep a long-ass aux cable hooked up at all times (and i don't have a glove box to hide it) Did i mention the UI is clunky? The other "os" (other than carplay/android auto) just doesn't work at all for me.. again could be firmware or osemthing, i don't know ... i don't use it

It's made specifically for Hondas it comes with the dashboard framing it can be stolen also but you really have to want it bad for your older Honda lol.

What the hell is wrong with manufacturers? Display technology is so fucking cheap nowadays! We're not even asking for IPS displays or AMOLED... We're literally just asking for HD LCD that's been on the market for 15 years! Get your shit together! You can buy an $80 smartphone with everything built into that could output and run everything that you need to do SOC wise with a bit of a power bumb, a small overclock, and a real heatsink. Snapdragon 632 CPU 720p display and Android version 9 out of the box for 79.99 sold by Walmart and AT&T in the Moto G7 play .

I think the main issue is that newer cars already have controls and infotainment touch screens that are built into the car from the factory, so these aftermarket radios are becoming less and less of a demand.
