Thanks for the great video. I have a few of questions. 1. How many seconds does she take to boot up when you start the car? 2. How is playback from the SD card? How long does it take to read an SD card and does it have to reread the card each time the unit starts up? 3. I've read that the The Kenwoods have a warning that must be answered upon boot. Do the Pioneers also have this?

I'd say about 10-12 seconds on boot up, reads cards right away, all radios when they're started up for the first time have a few setting related questions to answer

Great. Video, when using the hdmi for mirror mode are any or the CarPlay features available? Like voice calling or messaging? Also i say be using the tom Tom app whilst being able to play music via Apple Music?

+Phil de Scossa I'm honestly not sure, I didn't try that. My guess is no, since your phone needs to be plugged into the USB for Apple Carplay to work, having it plugged into the HDMI for Mirror Link will interrupt that. I think you'd have to do one or the other.

So when using Android Auto, using google maps navigation in particular... will the receiver utilize the phones GPS, or will I have to get the AVIC-U260 module to receive a signal?

It will use your phone's native GPS so yes Google Maps! No U260 required, just need a USB connection

Is it true Waze doesn't even work the same anymore after a recent update? I have the Appradio 4. And was hoping to use Waze. But from what i heard after a update that happened, that app doesn't even work with the mirrorlink.

With the hdmi hook up, do you a Parking Brake Switch module in order to use google map or waze while driving?? I understand that netflix will not work but will google map for waze (iphone user) work with the car moving?? thanks

With the HDMI connected is there any restrictions using it for example while driving or in park?

+lrrj31089 There will be no restrictions while in park. However, video playback is disabled while driving when it comes to DVD and HDMI, BUT you can permanently ground the green parking brake wire when you install this radio. That being said, Pioneer doesn't advise doing this because it can cause distracted driving.

NAV is not built in. The radio connects to your phone with apple carplay or android auto and uses your phones data

Hmm I would try going into the radio's Bluetooth settings and clearing your Bluetooth connection memory, then connect again and try that. Has it always been a problem?

The microphone is what's picking up your voice for Bluetooth functions like Hands Free Calling, Siri control, etc

No when you're connected with your phone you can't use Bluetooth, it uses Apple Carplay. The microphone is connected to the radio, so it will work plugged into USB with Siri and Carplay and when disconnected but connected via Bluetooth will also work for voice commands and phone calls

Is it used? It sounds like somebody has personalized it with a password. I'm not sure where you got it from but if you can't access anything without the password I'd call whoever you purchased it from or call Pioneer. Honestly sounds like it was possibly stolen from someone before you purchased it.

LOL, You said Apple CarPlay lets you access apps like GOOGLE MAPS. LMAO I WISH it would!!!!! It actually lets you access Apple Maps which in comparison is awful. I was running the Nexus 6p and android auto, then decided I would try the 6s Plus for a little while and check out how apple carplay stacked up against Android Auto. Well IMHO Apple CarPlay sucks ass in comparison. Obvioulsy Google Maps is superior in every possible way. Plus my service with Google Music actually works much better than my service with apple music. I am a Sprint customer and using the Iphone 6s plus with sprint I cannot use data while in calls. Which means if you are navigating to lets say the airport, and your wife calls, if you get off track or make a wrong turn to avoid traffic or whatever the map will not reroute. Lots of disadvantages. I'm here to tell you Android, and Google services in General are faster and easier to use. I can ask google(voice function) to navigate me, or search for specific genres of music and its just immediate. I ask siri the same thing it just confused 50% of the time. I am changing back when Google Releases their next best generation Nexus phone.

+Tommy Armour that's news to us that Sprint will not even allow GPS/navigation data while a call is taking place, it's no wonder they are dead last in customer satisfaction. As an Apple fan I'd agree, Android auto is a better experience. This review was written and shot before the Apple forced the switch.

+Quality Mobile Sprint allows you to use Data while in calls, I did it all the time with my Nexus phones on the sprint network. Its the Iphone on the sprint network. This is what sprint told me: Simultaneous voice and data when only connected to the network is not supported on the iPhone 6. Spark devices currently have single radio functionality. This allows the device to efficiently use multiple CDMA and LTE spectrum bands allowing for improved network connection and quality, but simultaneous voice and data are not supported. It is currently possible to talk and surf with these devices when also connected to a wifi network.

+Quality Mobile Video All the new Spark phones only have 1 radio so these phones will never be able to do calls & data at the same time. The nexus phones have 2 radio's LTE and CDMA which allows for Voice and Data Simultaneously. Some of the older devices have 2 radio's too, The downside to that is those phones don't support Sprint's new bands so your missing out on higher speed data and better signal on Band 25.
