I own SC6000s and an LC6000, so I speak from experience when saying Denon ain't all that great either........ no search within a playlist no save prepare list as playlist no hold platter + cue to overwrite main cue no detailed RGB waveforms no using a mac/ipad/iphone/windows pc as a performance drive no robust track filtering options no activated loops no dynamic (smart) playlists no automatic highlighting of compatible keys (traffic light) no customizable UI w’ more lines of information despite the SC6000 having an inch larger (10.1") screen no support for APFS, HFS(+), or NTFS file systems on external (preparation/collection) hard drives no vinyl/slip/master/sync/upcoming cue point status on jog display no mechanical jog wheel option (static-sensitive jogs can be unreliable!) no bright display capable of high visibility in the daylight (or at least a ‘daytime’/‘inverted’ mode) no key-shift performance mode with center reset no quick access to quantize. no Traktor support no stacked ‘real-time’ master waveform view no phase meter

@@risquedj no search within a playlist? are you sure? I can search on the SC5000 through any playlist. Make sure you update to 2.1.1, the Engine prime updates recently added or fixed alot of these issues. Same with quantize, just drop down and press QUANTIZE lol
@risquedj
@risquedj 2 жыл бұрын
@@hardkore360 No, you cannot search within a specific playlist....it's a global search. Quantize used to be on the main screen. Now you have to access it through a drop-down menu....Quantize is a performance feature.....you shouldn't have to menu-dive to access it. No, I stand by every single point I made. Denon, for all of their strengths have MANY more weaknesses they need to address.

A year ago I nearly replaced my older CDJs with 3000s. Fortunately i decided to do a bit of looking around and tried the Denon decks. I bought a pair of SC6000M decks and I've used them solidly for a year now while still using Pioneer decks in some of my club gigs.I loved them so much I even got Prime 2 unit to use in some of my smaller gigs. I can tell you that since switching to Denon, any time I use CDJ3000s now it seems like a huge backward step. CDJs have less connectivity (less usb ports) and no option for internal storage. Put an SSD drive inside the denon's sata bay and the performance boost leaves a CDJ with a usb drive for dead. You can even charge a phone from on of the SC6000's usb ports. :) No multi touch on cdjs so no easy zoom etc. Stupid positioning of performance pads on the cdjs (seriously pioneer's own controllers put them in a more sensible position so why not their flagship deck). And they feel small & flimsy compared to the average controller's pads. Again Denon win this one. No onboard track analysis and you can't have cue points labelled like on the denon decks. Plus on Denon's Engine desktop software you can manually edit beat grids for songs with varying speeds. Something you can't do in Rekordbox. No wifi so therefore no ability to play tracks from beatport, tidal, dropbox etc. Clunky looping and beat jump feature compared to Denon's rotary dial. Denon still has buttons so you can still loop like on CDJs but the dial is just so much easier to use and more intuitive. Discussions about which has the better jog wheel are moot if you get the M variant of the SC6000 with the motorised platter. I know a few vinyl DJs who have always been wary of digital players but loved playing on my SC6000M decks. The 10 second failsafe has saved me a few times when power has gone off for a few seconds. Power comes back on, speakers come back on - and the same track is still playing since the deck had still been running on it's built in power reserve. With CDJs I'd have to power up the deck again and browse for the track I was playing again - and have the risk of my usb drive being corrupted from power going off while it was in use. Just so many areas where the Denon decks have the edge. After using both a lot in the past year I honestly can't think of anything significant that the CDJ3000 does better. For those who argue "familiarity", that's really no excuse for the inflated price tag. DJs used to Pioneer have used my decks just fine. And since it reads libraries from rekordbox, serato etc there's just no reason for DJs used to CDJs to shy away from them.

@@TheOnlyTomAsh Have you used both? Clearly not. I still use CDJ (including 3000s) in club gigs. Their jog wheel feels about the same as the ones on the regular 6000. And of course the 6000 also comes in the M variant with a motorised platter which the CDJ doesn't even come close to touching. Hoe many features can you name that the CDJ has which the SC doesn't? Or features that it does better. Very few I'd bet. And from this and pretty much any serious comparison you'd find there are plenty of useful features the Denon decks have with the CDJs don't have (or don't do as well).

Indeed, I too sense a definite bias. It's cringey the way all these reviewer keep pulling out the "industry standard" trump-all card. It's like the CDJ3000 is essentially the same old shit with a few tweaks but, hey, industry standard, so Pioneer must win.

Some facts about SC6000 (in comapre with CDJ3000) 1. To compare the brightness and sharpness of the screen on the SC6000, first remove the protective film from the screen on the SC6000! It will be much clearer and sharper. Both players have the same screen resolution and the same FPS value (60 fps). 2. You do not know the CPU performance of the SC6000. So why are you saying that the SC6000 has less cpu performance than the cdj3000? I can't tell you the actual CPU performance on the SC6000, but I assure you that the CPU performance on the SC6000 is much higher than on the cdj3000, although the CPU on the SC6000 has only 4 cores. 3. Audio quality and DSP processing: Audio quality is not judged (only) by the bit depth and sampling frequency values! SC6000 has high end quality (dual) DA converter from AKM - model AKxxxxEQ , Sound (DSP) internal procesing in SC6000 is same, or ittle higher quality in copare with cdj3000. SC6000 DSP processing 32bit floating point/192kHz. CDJ DPS procesing 32 bit/96kHz. 4. The Ethernet (LAN) capacity and speed of both players is exactly the same. SC6000 also has a Gigabit Ethernet card. All Denon Prime Units have gigabit ethernet cards. 5. All Denon Prime players or Standalone systems have preview track feature (first in industry). 6. Other facts: SC6000 has a lot of internal memory space, (two-digit number value)(I can't disclose the exact value), to store entire tracks. SC 6000 have "emergency" TWO tracks, not only 4 beat loop than cdj players. SC6000 have dedicated 250MB memory space for each layer (per track). All prime players from Denon has 10 sec. power safe mode. This means that if you turn power off to the SC6000, the player will not turn off immediately, but only after a few seconds. This feature is excellent for short-term power outages or accidental disconnection of the power cord. The SC6000 will play the tracks for up to 10 seconds. without sound interruption. Jogs on the SC6000 or other prime palyers is metal construction (Therefore, they are a bit heavier than the cdj 3000), but they are much more durable. SC6000 - more power in the unit (CPU, int. memory space etc., more features and capabilities... Lower price 1490€ CDJ3000 - less power in the unit (CPU, int. memory space etc), less features and capabilities... Higher price 2390€ (note. Both players have 90% same layout design) Source of informations: Service manuals SC6000 & CDJ3000 and many years service knowledge...

And still they don't have the most necessary function of a digital player. The CDJ mode. The dominating reason I will never use the new Denons. If I had any interest in using Vinyl mode, I would still have my Technics 1210's to spin with and I don't. Denon don't give me the option to play the way I have for + 25 years, and I''m not about to change now. And don't talk about durability, or reliability. My DJ colleague and friend also happens to be the Denon rep and I know all the trubbels he has had with his SC5000's. The last problem was when one of his SC5000 crashed beyond repair for no reason, before even 3 years of use. After 6 months in the repair shop, he decided to get the new SC6000's. As a Denon rep he's obliged to use Denon gear, but I would personally never use gear causing that much trubbel. While he's worn out the Denon setup, I've had my NXS2 setup for 4 years, still looking and working like new and has never faulted in any way, despite me playing just as many or even more gigs than he does. Everyone has different needs of course, but to me familiarity, durability and reliability wins every day. It's as simple as that.

@@Odyseuss08 Let's talk percentage and see where we end up. There's probably 10 000 Pioneer pro units, or more, for every Denon unit out there. Of those Denon units practically none are set in club as installation, but are all privately owned and cared for. I've seen too many times when controller noobs stack 3-5 Pioneer units on top of each other to get the space they need for their shitty controller and laptop, and then people wonder why buttons and jog wheels breaks. The number of times I've encountered idiot DJ's with their VIP's drinking in the booth, leaving everything wet and more or less broken... But the number of times Pioneer pro gear brake down for no obvious reason other than after 4-6 years of heavy use when switches tend to need replacement is pretty much unheard of. I have several units myself, have had so since 1995, and have never had an error or breakdown on those, neither on any club installation or event setup during the 200 gigs a year I normally do, for several decades now. The same goes for every DJ colleague I have and as I work for Scandinvias largest DJ agency, JDN, and we are many. Only 2 uses Denon gear and have to bring that to every gig. One is the Denon rep here in Sweden, and the other one is a wedding specialist and have only used Denon since the Denon DN-2000F came out. He saved me from the shitty Prime 4 i accidentally bought believing Denon finally had made something worth spending money on. I was wrong. And how do I know what all my 100+ colleagues experience? We have a forum where we have to report any gear not working properly as soon as we encounter a problem. This ensures that we all know in what condition the gear is in in all the clubs we have our residency's. If as much as a cue button is laggy, we will all know about it. Practically all of us own our own setup of Pioneer pro gear, only a few settle for an all-in-one unit. Even if they are not considered pro gear, they work perfect at home and for the few occasions the go on the road. So the ONE PAIR I have, ha ha that was really funny, and the other ONE PAIR of Denon is the only existing pair i know of, and that story was told by the owner and he happens to be that Denon rep :) . I take what he tells me about Denon gear very serious, and he could probably not tell me everything. Now, i live in Sweden, and here Denon is at the bottom list of what you'll find in clubs and what pro DJ's own. I doubt that you could even find one rental service that has the Denon SC5000/6000's for hire. The ones that's been around long enough to remember the older modells remember why they disappeared, and the newer one have never had someone request Denon gear, but I guess one of the large rental services has one setup in case Laidback Luke shows up, or they will buy one when that happens. It looks like you live on the other side of the pond, where controllers, Serato and moving platters rule, so I guess there is a more diverse gear situation where you are, at least among the semi pro DJ's and those who prefer scratching routines before clean mixing. Would love to hear what the most common problems with the Pioneer pro gear that you have had to fix over the years. I mean those problems not caused by misuse and accidents of course.

@@wastlplays7049 Sometimes when only tech specs seem so matter in camparison, when in fact that is the least valued part when pro DJ's, Clubs and Rental services chose what gear to buy/use, I do get a bit agitated, and can't just shut up :D ha ha. I know for a fact that familiarity, durability and reliability are what's the most important most of us consider. Also how fast you get something delivered when you order, in case of theft or accidents, and access to fast and professional service where spare parts are immediately available for over night service. For most Pro DJ's gear is tax deductible and with the value of used Pioneer Pro gear, price is not that important. The same goes for some of the tech advancements if they don't have a direct impact on performance, or demand a drastic change of the workflow in preparations. As long as there is some technical and visual performance improvements and a few new functions that add to, and improve DJ's performance, like the accurate Key Matching and Pre listening on both the playing track and when browsing, pro Dj's are in general satisfied. When reviewers don't express those important circumstances because lack of knowledge or experience, I feel the need to comment. After all, people will base their investments on those reviews, and when you spend an arm and a leg, you want to get it right the first time. I hope my comments will help some to make a more educated choice.

Do you think the 6000M is a good feel, and a big enough platter that there's not a huge need for a Rane Twelve or turntable with DVS? I have SOME vinyl, for personal emjoyment at home, but have never really tried DJing or scratching on vinyl or motorized Jogs. The Rane One looks cool, but for my uses there's just a few dealbreakers with that unit. I'm looking into adding separate players to my current setup, and eventually possibly going to a full set of Denon separates, with the X1850 or similar mixer. For now, trying to decide if I should get one of the 6000M decks, for the moving platter, or a pair of the 5000 decks. This would be used at home, and one single deck would go with me to gigs alongside my Serato and MC7000 setup... Still just learning to scratch a bit, and thinking a deck with motorized platter might be the ticket to helping me break through the learning curve a bit more...

I'm mainly concerned with the feel and visual feedback of a motorized platter, and the size factor... thinking that a 6000M being bigger than a Rane One platter might be the ticket... and maybe I won't need the bigger 12" size... also really like the idea of it being a self contained player, with it's own wifi, etc.. I have to agree with a few other viewers. While I appreciate the video content and time it took to produce this video, I feel like this video had a constant lean toward Pioneer by default. It was like Denon decks were acknowledged and the brand was treated nicely, but Pioneer decks got the royal treatment no matter what. During a pandemic, the industry-standard may be a null point when many DJ's are having a slow year and big productions are few. Now is the time to learn and experiment with new things. Sure, you have to plan for the future, and many DJ's love the Pioneer Ecosystem, but there was a time when CDJ's were frowned upon compared to spinning real vinyl. All this said I have the full Rane DJ set but respect Pioneer & Denon equally.

The denon supports usb 3.0 and sdxc. It’s like having a brand new intel i7 4ghz chip in a computer that has 1mb sound card and only supports usb 1.0 and video card thay does 720p that can’t support dual screens. Doesn’t make sense. Meaning the pioneer doesn’t need all that computing power cuss it’s hardware (usb physical plugs and sd card slot) can only support the older slower usb and sd cards.

Since nobody in the last 17 years had really challenged pioneer it was easy to say they were industry standard because of that reason... @dj-peterofficial2753
@dj-peterofficial2753 3 жыл бұрын
To be industri standard has never been about how much technology you can cram into a unit. Since the basic functions developed in the early 2000's, it's been all about reliability, durability, compatibility and familiarity. That is what is valued the most and appreciated among pro DJ's, Club owners and rental companies. Whenever Pioneer themselves has gone over board with DVJ's, Video mixers and mixers like the DJM-2000, those have never become the standard, and they have all been better in terms of latest tech and innovation. Now, with the V10 mixer they may actually get the most innovative mixer they've ever made considered as the new club standard. The popularity of this mixer is beyond anything Pioneer could have wished for, and this during a pandemic. But of course, the first three reasons are there, and the familiarity is high enough for any DJ used to the 900-series that they can use the V10 out of the box, and learn the rest on the go. That also shows that when all 4 terms are met, the price is of little concern. The most innovative functions are still within DJ software, and I guess that will remain for at least a few more years, and that is what Denon is really competing against, not Pioneer pro hardware. Now after 4 years of Denon trying, that has to be clear for most people in the business. Now, that is not all bad, as there is a massive amount of Dj's in that category of potential buyers. The hard part for Denon is that every benefit the SC-series may have over the Pioneer pro gear, is available and then some in Rekordbox DJ, which of course can be used on pretty much any Pioneer gear, so even if it's not built in the new CDJ-3000's, it's still available for those who want it, and cheap at that.

@@dj-peterofficial2753 CDJ 1000s were 'knighted' the Industry standard in it's infancy. Long before anyone knew their shelf life, durability or before they were deemed the measuring stick. They were simply the 1st tabletop player and by the time anyone manufactured anything comparable, Pioneer had already flooded the clubs with their gear & gifted all the top tier DJs with a kit. There's no rationalizing with Pioneer fanboys. No different than telling iPhone fans that beg apple to implement certain features, meanwhile Samsung's had those features and then some for years.

@@apexpredator_jku What a bunch of crap. Did you read that somewhere? Like all haters you hide behind an empty account where you have nothing to show for. I've lived the DJ history since I started as a DJ in 1985, and every word you say is wrong. Denon were in fact the Club standard for CD's from 1993 to well into the 2000's. Pro DJ's at the top did NOT get a free setup, but they had a few chosen DJs presenting the gear, like Roger Sanchez. Just like Denon has Laidback Luke now. The same Pro DJ's did not let go of the vinyl until several years later, until those who also produced realized they could bring their just finalized track to a gig the same night. This is around 2003, when the CDJ-1000Mk2 came out, with a few corrections, but the Denon era lasted until the late 2000's. As late as 2011, I had to use the horrible DN-1200's in one of the clubs I was resident. Back then i had almost stopped using CD's because I got the CDJ-900's when they were released in 2009. The durability and reliability were established and proven already with the CDJ-500 models and the CMX-5000. Even the CDJ-100 were considered for use in pro environment, which it was never intended for. I had my CDJ-500II's as my primary players for 7 years, and they never faulted even once. In 2003 I got the CDJ-800 which also never faulted and juste worked perfect all the way to 2009 when I got the CDJ-900. Now my kids has grown up to a point where I again could increase my gigs to a full time level and in 2013 I got the CDJ-2000 Nexus. They stayed with me until 2019, even that I got the NXS2 setup in 2016, they stayed as ''to bring to gigs when needed'' for another 3 years. Not even once has any of my players faulted since i got my first CDJ-500, and the same goes for every Pioneer player i have ever used in clubs and events. As someone who has lived in the DJ community for more than 3 decades, I've been offered to buy outdated Pioneer gear now and then, and I've started to get back what I once had to sell and I also get what's been in the clubs where I've been resident. I'm old enough to be nostalgic, but the most important is that all this gear still works perfect. I show this on my YT-channel now and then when playing sets. I make my living, or used to before the pandemic, on my gear. Just as the clubs and event managers and rental companies does. We put reliability, durability, service and spare part availability and customer demand first. Everything else, including price and technical advancement comes last, always. Price is of no interest, cost is, a little. You know the difference? Pro DJ's knows this, so you're obviously an amateur, if DJ at all. Probably just another hater. You commenting about DJ gear is like if i did the same about Offroad Vehicles, which i know nothing about of course. B.t.w as a Pro DJ i need to know how the gear I expect to find in the booths work, so i used to have a Denon DN-2600, and as late as 2019 I got the Prime 4, which was a joke of a DJ unit and a huge disappointment. The price was OK, the cost horrible. The most expensive unit I've ever had, and worst at that. Did you buy like the Pioneer XDJ-XZ and play 100's of hours on other Pioneer Pro gear to form your opinion, or did you just read about that too? Jeeezz....

And that's why I prefer Mojaxx reviews. Unbiased. You're stuck in this "industry standard" mode. There is no industry now or for the foreseeable future as all clubs are shut down. Why would I pay $700 more for a clearly inferior Pioneer product just so I could say I have an "industry standard" player? Pioneer rushed to put out a product because throughout the year dj's and KZbinrs were dragging them through the mud for not having a new product at NAMM while Denon threw everything plus the kitchen sink at NAMM. I have the 6000M's and almost exclusively play via streaming (Tidal, Dropbox, Beatport, Soundcloud...etc). For $700 more, Pioneer couldn't add WIFI and give that to their "industry standard" customer base?? What the hell do I care that Pioneers jog wheel spins longer??? I don't need my dj equipment to have centrifugalforce to separate blood platelets. Is he joking??? This comparison review was horrendous at best. Denon was never the "industry standard", but they sure murdered Pioneer with these 6000's!!!!

No they didn't. It's all about different preferences, and I personally think that the whole Denon SC and Prime series suck. I've had the possibility to try the SC's out and before I could I unfortunately got in the hype of the Prime 4 and got one. What a piece of S**T! And then I could almost not get rid of it, just showing how few DJ's are interested in Denon products. It took me 3 months and $500 loss. I had it up and running for a few days and did't even take the plastics off the jogs and screen. First huge problem was the lack of CDJ mode. I hate the Vinyl mode, completely useless to me. If I had any interest in vinyl mode I would have stayed on my Technics 1210's. Now, the CDJ mode is the mode I use, and it gives me the freedom to set on the frame accurate cue points on the fly, which is not possible to do in Vinyl mode, and Denon decided to not implement CDJ mode. When you press pause, the track still stops as in vinyl mode even if you turn that off. For that single reason I will not ever use Denon's newer models. Then there's a number of other stupid implementations, like the pads below the jogs. Only controller DJ's prefer that because they have no other experience. The jog wheels on the Denons is a complete joke. Again, only controller DJ's coming from really bad jog wheels could ever appreciate the jog wheels on the new Denons. Who the f**k uses wifi except for bedroom DJ's who don't need to adapt to the reality of playing on party cruisers and deep basements where an internet connection will never be available. Pro DJ's own their music and will never depend on something online. Preparations are done BEFORE going to a gig. If you're in desperate need of using online streaming services, just enable Rekordbox DJ where you have that s**t available. Dual layer, what a joke. Again, only controller DJ's think it's a good idea, but in reality no one uses it, except for bedroom DJ's at home. Not even Laidback Luke does it. He demands his 4 decks on stage, just as every other DJ who needs more than 2 decks. Saving $700... Say that after a couple of years of use and Denon has lowered the price again and again, or have had another campaign where you get 2 for the price of 1, and you can't event get 40% of the original price back. When I needed to upgrade from my CDJ-2000 Nexus, I got 60% back of the original price after 6 years of heavy use, and it took me only a couple of days. Pioneer is expensive to buy new, but the cost/hour is probably the lowest of all brands, especially if you buy a used Pioneer setup. I use my CDJ's for around 5 years and mixer for 8-10 years, and during this time usually no service is needed, and the Pioneer gear still holds a great value. My friend and DJ colleague also happens to be the rep for Denon. On his SC5000's he had a number of problems including getting new cue/play/buttons within a year because they broke on both players. Took weeks to fix and was really expensive. Several hangs and break downs during gigs causing him restarting the units to continue. Last thing before he even had them for three years, one player broke down, beyond repair. After 6 months he ordered the SC6000 and the new 1850 mixer instead. As a Denon rep he's obliged to use the Denon gear, but I would personally never agree to use gear that unreliable. I would rather use my 14 year old CDJ-1000MK3's even if it took me a week to burn the music I'd need on CD's. Based on what I see online and know from my colleagues in Scandinavias largest DJ agency, Pioneer DJ has probably sold more CDJ-3000's and V10 mixers since this summer, than Denon has sold the SC5000/6000 1800/1850 units in 4 years. But what the heck, the beauty of it all is that there's some competition going on, letting everyone get the best gear for one and each. Just as convinced as I am that Denon will never be my first option, you are probably about Pioneer DJ, and it's fine. Under normal circumstances I still do +200 gigs a year all over the country using the Pioneer gear, and most of the time I only need to bring my head phones and USB devices. At 52 that suites me well and I'm not about to change the way I play unless it's a one button easy-to-use function that adds value to what I do. For me, as for most pro DJ's, new tech is fine, but familiarity, durability and reliability comes first, every time.

Pus to say about streaming services is silly, that’s stupid to say, can’t you stream with rekordbox6 (on line services are beatport link Dropbox? I do think they will implement these and more in the 3000’s. Last thing, denon has pads at the front of their players and pioneer has it at the top. How can you say denon is more for people who come from controllers? That really don’t make sense.. I see it as what the user is comfortable with regardless if it’s denon or pioneer.. you do know that denon and pioneer uses different jog wheels to each other? @@darrendeep Of course not, Pioneer club gear also breaks down now and then but I've never heard of Pioneer club gear breaking down unless it's been very heavily used or there's been some serious miss use of the gear, like smashed buttons, liquids all over, idiots stacking a 5 piece setup on top of each other. My own Pioneer gear has never broken down once since 1994, and I have never had a breakdown of Pioneer gear ever on a club- or event installation for just as long. The Denon gear I refer to was used by 1 DJ, Denon rep at that, and his setup faulted more in 2,5 years, and one piece to a point of no return. See the difference? I may sound as a fanboy, but believe me, I test all pro gear I can get my hands on, and I did buy the Denon Prime 4. Got a good price from me Denon friend and only to wait for 6 months for delivery. With that I was one of the first to get one, and boy what a disappointment. Took me 3 months to get rid of and lost $500, and it wasn't even on the shelves to buy yet. I've owned several pieces of Denon gear over the years, all through the 90's and all the way up to 2011 in clubs. Pioneer didn't get in to the booths here in Sweden until the mid 2000's. I've personally owned, and used when possible, every club standard gear from Pioneer since the first CDJ-500, and all the gear I've managed to hold on to still works flawless. Not one single breakdown! The 20 or so times I've had to restart a CD-player during a gig, it's all been on Denon gear except for one which was a Numark. Remarkable how things like that stick to memory among 1000's of gigs. I have my opinions based on my own experience and hands on use, and when I get info direkt from people I trust, like my friend the Denon rep, who probably have only told me what he is allowed to. I have my opinion, yo're free to have yours.

I believe that the Denon has more processing power than the Pioneer, basically the reverse of what you stated... The Denon tends to get more meaningful updates... Audio quality is the same... @@ImpactSpace All the specs are superior on the Denons. Don't get me wrong: If Denon was the "industry standard" then they would be pricier... That 32bit/96khz is irrelevant anyways, as the source material is usually 16bit 44.1khz, no matter if it is WAV, AIFF or Flac, because this is how the master of the music gets saved... So that argument is boring anyways.. And it is not humanly possible to hear the difference anyways if you had such a file... Those specs matter if you process audio in a DAW or so, so there is more resolution for the effects and processing to work with, but for a media player it is irrelevant.

I would though have to agree with most of comments here in saying that currently denon is way ahead as far as the players are concerned. I think this is the point of a lot of comments , for the current time we are in technologically I really hoped that the cdj3000 would offer much more to its consumers. It feels like they don't need to push anything because of their name, but I feel if you keep doing that eventually you will not be that name anymore. If it had most of the features the SC has i would be the first in line because pioneer as a brand has been the industry standard. But this is just my opinion and to each its own. Very interesting review and comments really heated and informative. I think it’s subjective despite the rhetoric. Choose wisely and obviously according to budget, playing style and what’s going to get the job done. For any venue having equipment not operate properly in the middle of a set is epic and embarrassing but I notice there is always backup gear no matter what because nowadays for whatever reason tech fails. Pioneer is the industry standard and Denon I believe is looking to dethrone them with the up and coming “bedroom” DJS who will eventually be the Carl Cox or Roger Sanchez of the future. Having the controller options will be a familiar addition because many are practicing on them now and this will be the future. I think streaming is pivotal as well as on the fly analysis just in case you forgot to prep a track or just want to grab a track on the go that might be the cherry on top for a monster set that you have built. I will stay away from which is better because there are many DJS and even more opinions. I love them both and for what I do they have both been loyal with the usual hiccups the modern gear has. Specs are not ears and everyone hears differently depending on too many factors to discuss. The modern Dj must be a master creating an environment with music and cohesive transitions which is hard enough. Take them there with your tool of choice and time will decide who is king of the mountain....btw I enjoy mojax when he reviews because he will bite a chunk out of whatever he feels is not up to snuff. I don’t know if this review suggest there isn’t some bias or if there is compensation for the talk up but comparisons should be that and let the buyer decide. Point out fairly all that is relevant. No disrespect in any way but simply from a Dj who is passionate not only about the game but his gear

Indeed; The Pioneer is built for festivals and clubs. The Denon is built for those too, and any other type of party where people still can make requests. Imagine you playing a wedding party and someone comes and ask if you have that one particular song. You don't. On the Denon, you dial in some streaming service or worst case, you download it with your cell phone, hook it up on USB and there ya go: the Denon analyses the track and you hit the play button. With the double-costing Pioneers you are stuck because you need a laptop with Rekordbox. Nuff said. The Pioneers are just a small sub-set of the Denon's that can do less and cost more while being built on an obsolete outdated technical platform. Sorry.

I realize because of the firmware issues Prime had early on that a lot of the international artists they had attracted jumped ship but I think that SC6000 will be showing up on riders a lot more and hopefully very soon... Not slighting Pioneer. The 3ks are a fairly advanced step away from Nexus 2. Its just, that step isn't big enough to catch up with the SC6000

What good will it be to have the denons when 99.9% of Dj riders have pioneer gear on them? Sounds like someone is going to be upset with whoever buys the gear at this club, like, the owner of the club, who doesn’t give half a fuck about any of that nonsense and just wants to save money. Buying cheaper gear nobody uses isn’t saving them money at all. Lots of DJ’s only see this from the “artist” perspective and have zero consideration for the industry at large. This is why pioneer will continue to be the club/industry standard no matter what denon does.

I love Denon - it has so much to offer - but I would still pick the CDJ3000 over the SC6000 - two reasons. The Engine Software is not great - still work in progress. Rekordbox is 100x better. 2. The mechanical jog wheels on the CDJs are so much better - Much easier to scratch and blend.
@ImpactSpace
@ImpactSpace 3 жыл бұрын
Rekordbox is certainly not "100x" better. And since version 6 and that subscription nonsense its getting worse, while Denon at least keeps pushing new software updates for free. The gap is far smaller than it had been 3 years ago, and RB had been hot trash during its first 2-3 years as well. For the jog, its a matter of personal taste. I don't scratch, but I had CDJ-900s before and never liked those rattling, wobbling jogs. The new one might be smoother, but again, its $2300 per deck... no, thanks.

@@ImpactSpace Rekordbox 6 is free unless you get something like the creative plan. I'm a big fan of Denon - I was one of the first to purchase the Prime 4 and absolutely love it. However, I also use other softwares like Rekordbox 6 and Serato Pro- and can tell you Engine is no way even close to those two. It has come a long way in the past year or two but it's just not there.

@@ImpactSpace I couldn't agree more. The price and feature difference together is just too massive to still stick with the Pioneers just because of the software (which you only use for preparation and that's it). '100x better' and 'so much better' are definitely exaggerated.

I've owned both the CDJ3000's and the Denon SC6000's and I sold the pioneer players, both are good players, but personally I preferred the Denon, nicer screen, steaming directly on the players, and such a loverly smooth pitch fader very nice to mix on, both players are very well made, but the pioneers are not worth the money, when denon make a player just as good for less! and they're no different to in use to cdj's, anyone who's ever used a cdi will be at home in seconds, super fulid and easy to use recommend!

Thanks for the video. You talk about industry standard a lot, at the moment there is no industry right now, djs are exploring new ways of playing their music at home, pioneer seem to jack up the price because of their name and hold back on technology, And at a time when many people have lost income because of the pandemic (especially clubs) who will really spend that kind of cash on a player that costs well over 2k for one. Denon all the way. And if you did buy the cdj 3000 you wouldn’t want to use the inferior 1000,s at the bar or club after using 3000,s so you’d have to take them to the club anyway. I can only see the biggest wealthy clubs maybe investing in these but not the average consumer/bar small club. Just something to think about 😁

DJ-Cruize: I still use CD's, my reasons are... 1) I've seen PC crash in bars and events... and this results in massive crowd You F#%ked up chants or worse dancefloors completely clears out and people barhop to the next bar, whereas if my CD skip's I just press play on the next song on the next deck, some people say, ok just use USB's instead... and this brings me to my next point: 2) Why I don't use USB's... I used to try and use USB but not all songs would load, even if they were in mp3 format, (this had happened many times) eventually I was like f#%k it and went back to CD's, this really pissed me off... a few years later I then I started noticing how many computer DJ's and USB Dj's would get stuck in bpm ranges for massive sets, where I was genre jumping like crazy (there's only a small handful of DJ's in NZ which could genre jump similar to myself, yet most seem to really struggle), the difference is definitely noticeable, and I just never relied on my eyes for wave form DJ'n, instead I just honed my skills better with ear mixing and loop mixing 3) Now days CD DJing has become a novelty for people who watch me play... they literally can't understand how I do it, even younger DJ's are blown away because they lack many of the ear DJ'n skills required for mixing without wave forms, people are blown away with it to the point where they literally stand and watch and wish they could do it, not to mention they also say wow, we can literally see you mixing the songs, we know for a fact you haven't downloaded some massive long pre-mix as we can see you changing out the CD's... so its become a novelty in the last few years, much like how vinyl collecting has crept back into mainstream fashion 4) I burn my own CD's and I have a few categorisation categories columns legend beside the track name, I can tell just by looking at my excel CD track listing printout, which songs go off on the CD, which is the best song on the CD, what songs are better played at the start of a night vs at the end of a night, what genre the songs is... whether or not the song is starts from a roll in or a beat-mix starting, whether or not there's a breakdown near the start, or a breakdown near the middle or end, or a roll off ending or a beat-mix ending, it took me a few years to refine how I lay this out as it made the expansion of my CD collection more manageable, when other DJ's see the categorisation legend they cannot believe the amount of information I've presented, now some of the categorisations feature on CDJ interface and some feature on PC interface, yet my categorisation shows more... so it allows for greater flexibility across multiple genres 5) I can my eyes dart across more cd's and faster than scrolling down a limited viewing interface, yet I do like the fact the PC can search by typing in a song, that's probably my favourite PC feature which does not exist when using CD's, and occasionally I have a brain far and can't remember, so I take my PC anyway to gigs and have it on the side for specific track search purposes, yet I use that sparingly 6) I've noticed occasionally Rekordbox marks a song with the wrong bpm, this can be quite annoying!! so I have had to re-map some songs manually the old-fashioned way, I'm not to sure why when the software is the same on the CDJ's anyway, but the CDJ live analysis performs more accurately than the Rekordbox PC analysis, so that just means I mark the CD track listing with the correct bpm and reprint another later Drawbacks: The only drawback is the fact that CD's take up space, I have 4x (4x4) cases, with 3 of those cases being split in half for genre division and the 4th case being an overflow case for new burns, this can take up some table space, and that would be the only drawback, I mix on 2 decks, with a 4 channel mixer and can mix on 3 decks max, yet table space only ever becomes an issue when I'm doing side-by-side tandem DJ'n with another DJ, so I for those events I take a spare fold out table, this is probably the only drawback in my opinion, yet it's a minor issue in the grand scale of things My plan is eventually to go to PC integrated controller setups, yet at present I tend to shine on other DJ's and they can't seem to match the energy, so I'm of the mind if it's not broke then don't fix it, yet I'm on a fully digital burn collection these days so I'm ready to make the leap when I do... yet I don't see myself doing that anytime soon

he talks a lot about cdj3000 (with confidence) but sounds unsure with the SC6000. For a start he did not mention that both jog wheels are totally different, one is mechanical and the other is passive (denon) plus you have a further option of using the pitch bend (which you can fine tweak) to taste. Plus denon can read RB files pioneer can’t. He said that the 3000 are more powerful (under the hood) than denon.. He totally got that wrong.. I think he’s a pio fan boy OR he’s been paid by pioneer.. please watch DJcity (Mojax) review on SC6000 and SC6000M. Please don’t get me twisted but I’m down with both but you really sound that you did not do any research or get to know a player, which makes you sound like a sheep (industry standard talk) most (top djs) are lazy don’t really like change (remember vinyl to CD-ROM movement?) 🙏🏾👊🏾

I really hope Denon can resolve this in a future firmware update because I really want to buy one or two. Totally agree with this. If we really valued competition and innovation, than the industry would move to whatever players offer the most. Pioneer has spent a lot of money and capital becoming the industry standard and had been resting on its laurels, not really pushing the envelope and raking it in. They rely on reviews like this to set the narrative that no matter how innovative or new another product is, it doesn’t matter cause they’re pioneer. The 3000 is a half finished product that was rushed out because of the sc5000 and sc6000s obvious threat to their bottom lines. And whether you know it or not “bedroom djs” make up a larger market than one would expect. With the price point of the Denon’s it’s essentially wiped out all of the lower end pioneer players, leaving these overpriced, half baked 3000s

Dude, CDs are tried and true backup mode, for mobile DJs it is a big risk showing up to a venue with everything on computer. What happens if you are handed a CD on a job and you look at it, and cant play it. Getting rid of CDs is still too soon. CDs accounted for almost $200 million in salses through mid 2022 CD sales went up in 2021 for the first time in 2 decades. For good reason. This omission is one way to reduce cost. A new version should be offered that includes the disc. Xbox and playstation offers 2 versions with disc and with out... same should follow here. True DJs handle Disc... DISC Jockeys?
