Just received mine in 1st batch preorder to US. Have an RX and this is 1 inch bigger. It’s amazing. Used to have djm and xdj 1000’s. Too much to carry and connect for mobile gigs. Used RX. Loved it. Rekodbox is really good. No issues ever. This DDJ 1000 bridges both worlds. Endless fun and things u can do. New beat FX are addicting. As Mo said. U have to refrain yourself from overdoing it. It’s that cool. Don’t hesitate. 1200 bucks for essentially 3000k + worth of pioneer you can toss in a decent travel bag and be off. Awesome job pioneer. Nailed it 110%.

It would be perfect if the mixer section was matte finish (hence scratch-proof) and had the front-panel features of a DJM-900nexus2 mixer. Of course Pioneer won't do that as it would hurt CDJ+DJM sales. Pioneer needs some competition. I wish someone would reverse-engineer a DDJ-1000, improve it and sell it for less. Finger to Pioneer.

Scoox Denon failed big time (both with Prime 4 and SC5000/X1800) so Pioneer does not have ANY competition, unfortunatelly. They can do whatever they want... I’m waiting for NXS3 (or whatever new player will be named)

I expect they will add some pads at the bottom and then, rather annoyingly, also take away some functionality, which they will add back in when they release the next next version, and pretend they 'listen' to their customers. Maybe the CDJ line will be discontinued and merged with their XDJ line i.e. without the silly CD player.

All I keep hearing from retailes and on web is “we know nothing about it” but 3 years have passed since NXS2 were released and I suppose the date is not far away :) But who knows, with this one-controller-a-month madness maybe we will have to wait longer...

I have mine since March and still learning stand out alone to interpret the music the way I want to play and listen to it. Every song makes the DDJ its so easy to get addicted to the DDJ-1000..Mo is always on point on his reviews.

I managed to get mine in the first batch that arrived in the UK a few weeks back and i absolutely love this controller....Having never used Serato i have spent time with Rekordbox on Pioneers other controllers so used to the software but its the hardware that's the big step up. Just like to add that you can customise those jog screens so you don't have to have all that info on them. I had an RX before and found that quite busy with a huge amount of buttons and i didn't want an RZ as it was way too big, This is perfect i feel. Top build quality too and the top of the decks are metal. The mixer is very shiny though. I still find i look at the laptop screen though as forget i have those jog screens. I need to move the laptop out the way more. You cannot browse with those jog screens either but i am sure it could be added. Maybe to view a playlist. These are flying out the shops in the UK and all retailers have said to me each new batch is pretty much all pre ordered. Pioneer have definitely struck gold with this one. Especially the price.

Pretty great controller and love that it is similar to my old SX. Love the big jog wheels and all the FX. I would switch but that's not enough for me. I love my DJ808 from roland because of the TR-S DRUM MACHINE. Great move forward with the size though.

I currently have an S4MK2 and have been choosing between this and the DJ808. With all the reviews and issues I've read and seen so far, I think I will be moving from Traktor to Rekordbox. Will skip Serato (for now). BTW, awesome review as always Mojaxx.

The XDJ-RX2 is a beautiful piece of kit, i just miss these large jogs... And i really don't care playing from a laptop, the only thing i use the laptop-screen for is navigating through my tracks...

Cleveland Terry Bowens I tried the free trial of Rekordbox DJ about 1 1/2 years ago and have never booted up Serato even once since then. The switch is easy and you will love the library management and track searching capabilities.

amit gupta there are so many reasons to upgrade but I’ll name a couple of big ones. Dedicated mic channel. Sick of wasting a channel just to use a microphone. Real cdj platters, there’s nothing wrong with the sx2 platters but they’re not cdjs. Dedicated effects channel, it’s a great controller.

Great video but I just tried to connect my DDJ-1000 to a system Friday night using the master XLR plugs but the system I was trying to connect to the speakers wouldn't work? I had to use the booth jack to get sound. What the hell was the problem?

Pioneer pushed all their chips to the table by doing this.. They put the CDJ style jog wheels that we've all been screaming for on this unit and put it at a great price point. They also undercut their own hardware that supports Serato to push users towards Rekordbox. #COLDBLOODED

Can you compare DDJ 1000 to XDJ RX2? I like the jog wheel on DDJ 1000 but when it comes to being able to play without a laptop, RX2 wins. What am I missing? Is there a reason I should choose one controller over the other?

How is the spin back speed? I am planning to sell my xdj rx2 for a ddj 1000. I tested the rx2 with rekordbox to see if I like to use a computer instead of a usb. When I do a spin back with my rx2, they are way slower than a spin back if I don’t use rekordbox. Is this also the case for the ddj-1000?

Hi Mate,, You've used Pioneer gear for years. I have a Pioneer SX .. The USB on the rear is locking.. How do I release this cable ? There is not tag on the lead. Please advice.. Cheers Steve

Hi There DJcity. I really like the DDJ-1000 and actually bought it because of your review. But here lies one question, which makes me really really sad that nobody mentioned this. The question being, why does every reviewer seem to overlook the problem with the beat effects unit on this controller? Pioneer is well aware of this problem and stated in their forums, that due to a inherent problem with the signal pathing regarding the beat effects unit, the controller tends to cut the sound for some milliseconds so that perfektly beatmatched tracks jump out of sync and when disengaging the effects unit the tracks actually jump back so that they are in sync again. Because of that failure in design, i have returned my unit and won´t recommend anyone to buy this unit until pioneer fixed this problem in a reliable way other than telling everybody that lowering the latency of the recordbox dj software will help (yeah if lowering some latency will actually negate a hardware problem). Thanks in advance for your answer. Oh btw, pioneer was kind enough to delete all of the posts regarding this problem in their forums.

I tried looking up this bug and have found no other mentions of it anywhere on the internet besides this comment. Im not convinced it's widespread enough to be an issue. Link me with other testimonies if you disagree. Surely this has been discussed in other forums that Pioneer DJ doesn't moderate.

I seriously considered switching to rekordbox for this controller and their new DMX lighting control. I downloaded the trial software and it did not meet my expectations. I have a newer MacBook Pro with plenty of RAM and hard drive space. Too many red flags for me to even consider leaving Serato. I ended up investing in SoundSwitch and called it a day. I'm sticking with my Allen and Heath Xone 43c & Technics or my Denon MC7000 for gigs. I will wait for Denon's "Prime" controller answer to this. I can imagine they would have something coming in the next year or so, with Serato integration.

Is the DDJ-000 nice and quiet on is outputs when not playing music? OR Does it bleed a little noise thru all of its outputs? I had a DDJ-RX return because I could not stand that constant -shhhhh- noise out of headphones and speakers. I have used my AMP with firewire sound cards, and the Allen&Heat DB4 and the N.I S4 and N.I Z4. All work perfectly. But the DDJ line makes this noise.!? You don't even have to pug it in to notice, just plug in your headphones then put it in your ears, notice how quiet it is then turn the DDJ on and notice if you can now hear a noise or if its quiet still. If someone like to do this test for this new DDJ-1000 and answer this, that would be great! thanks

I heard people complaining on the sound quality of the ddj 1000 compared with the DJM 900 nexus or Xone 92. I was wondering if anyone has this controller and knows how to improve the sound quality probably adding something external. Not sure if its posible but I love to know since I order mine yesterday. i wish pioneer could just chop off the mixer and one deck and sell a pioneer version of the NI D2 type deal. i like my standalone mixer. the entry to the cdj size jog wheel in a standalone "deck" is the XDJ 1000/ mk2, which is a nice player, but i just want a deck controller. preferably not in a way that pioneers a high price tag.

REKORDBOX have many issues wen it comes to analizing the songs and the beat grid and coming from serato thats not an issue and now have to use the controller with vdj and it works better with this controller unfortunally :(. we need this with serato or pioneer needs to fix that issue with an update.

Perhaps it’s a brilliant marketing strategy by Pioneer. Get Serato users disappointed and then boom the new DDJ SX 3 with Serato DJ Pro is announced in a few weeks. 🙏🏼

DJ Angel Ortiz doubt it. Pioneers market share is growing by the minute. Also I beta tested Serato DJ Pro. To be honest, not much has changed. Offline play and additional cue point layout is great but that’s pretty much it.

The controller just works perfect with Rekordbox, so why would you use Serato with this controller? Doesn't really make sense in my opinion. The controller works exactly like the pro Pioneer gear, prepare your stuff with this controller and Rekordbox, export the stuff on USB for your gigs on CDJ2000 / DJM-900 and off you go. If you are a Serato person, then i suppose you just don't want this controller because it's made to be exactly like the pro Pioneer gear..

Waz good Fam! FEELING lost FEELING confused don't know which one to pick { ddj 1000 or s9 or Rane 72 } I like the d DJ 1000 but it make me feel like I won't be a good DJ knowing that I been DJ on vinyl records since I was a little kid but the stuff that it got in it it could make me save a lot of money!! The mixer section and beat effects can function standalone, but there is no standalone music playback. The decks require the software. One neat thing about rekordbox DJ software tho, is that it can accept other people’s rekordbox flashdrives. So if a friend wants to play, they can plug their flashdrive into the laptop and their playlists and data is available in rekordbox DJ. Plus rekordbox allows you to export as well, so even tho DDJ-1000 requires the laptop, a DDJ-1000 owner can still export their library and play on XDJs or CDJs without the laptop. Any other DJ software platform will always require the laptop no matter what hardware. When on rekordbox you have the flexibility to do both.

I am so disappointed with this controller. I've just bought it and I have the latest macbook Pro and I can not get the mac to send the audio to the controller for love or money. I've tried everything and I can not find a resolution anywhere online. I just hope pioneer get back to me with a resolution before I return the controller
