THERE ARE NOW 3 MINISPLITS GOING.. BUT this was the first one installed. Even with just the BASEMENT, 18k in the office and 12k in my bedroom my house can exist without propane heat.. Its amazing.

Why is the outdoor unit mounted so high off the ground vs. your traditional A/C units?

It's also a heat pump so it also makes heat in the winter, and in winter there be snow, sometimes lots of snow, so you have to raise it off the ground so it doesn't get buried in said snow and no longer pump the heat.

So, I have a question. I hear talk of a generator panel. Why do people in the US have a generator? Does the power go down that often? I’ve lived in my house (in europe) for 19y and I have never had the power go out unless it’s maintenance but then the power company uses huge generators so you are maybe 5min without power. And this is a small town not a city. I don’t know anyone in my country with a generator for the house. Anyone want to shine a light on this for me?

First year in the house I had power go out roughly 12 times.. Some were just short 3-10 minutes instances. one or two lasted an hour. But I had one last year last 30+ hours. All our local transmission lines in the country are above ground and when a wind storm or accident damages them it either goes down from that or it goes off when the power company is repairing the sections. Keeping the refrigerators and heating running during a blackout not to mention well pump for all water is essential.

@@ZReviews Thanks for the reply. fortunately our weather is not that extreme and when it comes to maintenance the power company uses their huge generators to keep us going. Might have something to do with the fact that we have a right for financial compensation when the power is down for more than 2hours regardless the cause. Have a good one.

@@nicomeurs7009 yes, in built up areas it hardly ever goes out (though if it does it becomes a historical event) but in the rural areas, there's just.. so much wire, so much distance. People have to remember how BIG the usa is, and how many tens of thousands of miles of wires have to be ran everywhere.. So they do it as cheaply as possible. And then trees fall in them or cars hit them or lightning strikes them. So it pays to have backups!

Not every power company in the u.s will supply a generator for temporary power, where I live it's common for trees to come down during the windy seasons and take out lines.
