i have had it where the gasket between the reed block and the carb isn't big enough. Had the problem on my P41, had me scratching my head. Pioneers and Homelites are some of the best sounding saws. Reeds forever!

We still have the power head to my grandfathers old Pioneer Farm-Saw. I remember watching him and my father in the woodlot during the summer cutting trees for some fire wood before winter came. They had two Pioneer Farm-Saws, one in black and orange, which it the one we still have and the other in Pioneer Green/Yellow. The green/yellow one was traded in toward a Husqy some years ago as it had some problems. But they were always treated as the "just-in-case" saw for when the trees got too big. They always ran smaller Homelites for limbing and buckin the wood into portions. :)

I used a old hand me down pioneer back in 1970, it was my first saw. Don't remember the model, but it was heavy enough to put hair on your chest after a few weeks of packing it in steep mountains. 😆 have a great day.

It’s definitely oiling great! Sounds good brother!!! She’s choochin’!!!! That’s a beautiful little full wrap handle… I freakin love that green color! I just got a homelite 1050! 100cc quad reed valve momma… I can’t wait to jump into this old girl! 😂👍. I’m starting to really like the older one’s! They all need a pipe! Those P40’s are a great size saw too!!! Me too! I’m in love with it too! A 28 with skipper!!! I’m not a canook but that makes me proud for y’all!!! Right on!!!

Put a carb kit in my p25 pioneer but it still fires and dies, maybe fuel lines, maybe seals, a work in progress for sure. The paint was all there till I started cleaning it up. That's when the paint started falling off... she's turdy alright but I can't wait to get her cutting again. Great video Tinman look forward to any and all pioneer vintage content. Sweet p40.... good stuff always.... Mahalo Tinman🤙🤙🤙...Tdawg.

I’m 51 now and I remember dad teaching me to mix fuel for a 1960’s Lawn Boy mower. It had to be mixed at 16:1 or an 8 oz. can of Lawn Boy mix oil. In 1979 dad bought a new Lawn Boy and it was 32:1 so dad bought a Ratio Rite measuring cup. He put a mark on 4 oz. to help me. I have loved 2 strokes in every form since then from radio control to motorcycles to saws.

My father had the exact same saw if I recall (I don't think it's a P41). 1975 vintage or so. I've inherited this saw, I'll have to look in the shed. My saw is a little weak in compression, probably worn-out piston rings. It's been modded from points ignition to electronic ignition by our local shop and I remember my father saying it gave it a little bit more power. He used pioneer saws as a lumberjack in the 60's and said to me that, contrary to the McCullochs and some other brands, never tun at WOT through entire cuts, as you'll end blowing these saws. They have a lot of RPM in them. Always throttle them through a cut. That said my father always ran his saws a little bit on the oily side (a little bit more oil than necessary) It is probably why the saw survived years of use and abuse (18-25 cords per winter). I will try to revive my saw in a more or less distant future; the chain and plates are also worn out.

I have a pro mac 650 with almost no hours thats been in storage for 30-35 years and its time to get at er. I think that saw is a little different for a Mac.
