The QX-8000 retailed for $499.99 and was sold in the USA from 1972 to 1973. The QX-8000A which replaced it, added an SQ matrix decoder with superior logic circuitry and all silver knobs and pushbuttons. Same tuner, same power output with a retail price of $549.99

Thank your for taking the time to comment! I ended up selling it on craigslist. I often try to keep things in my collection that I use (except for spare power amps), but I have the Marantz 4430 Quad receiver in its place so I thought it would be good to let someone else enjoy it.

I have one of these. Works great. Dad picked it up for 20 bucks and goodwill. Never use it though since i have a sx780 and another kenwood kr 3600.

$20 is a great price for it working. Guess there are still good finds out there.
