I just lost my mother on December 16th she passed away in my home under home hospice care after several months of hospital stays rehab centers and bad nursing homes. I'm glad she got to be with us on her last days, and Christmas was her favorite holiday. Your videos bring me comfort. God bless you and your family.

I have never met Richard Carlton Hacker but back in the 1970's when I was working at the local Tinderbox franchise store in Portland Oregon, Richard was working in Los Angeles for the Franchisor. He went on to be a great authority on pipe and all things related thereto. At one point he was given the honor of presenting Jeremy Brett, the actor famous for portraying Sherlock Holmes in the excellent series from the 1970s, with a beautiful Peterson Churchwarden as Brett had been honored as "pipe smoker of the year" that year. One of my favorite books by Hacker is his "Rare Smoke" which is a compilation of all the desirable estate pipes over the decades, many of which are no longer produced but sell on ebay for handsome prices, Barling, Comoy GBD, Charatan and Loewe come to mind. He has always been a great ambassador for the pipe smoking hobby.

I started with a cheap corn cob pipe from K-Mart at age 15. I graduated to Preben Holm pipes in 1980. Those pipes are no longer made, however they can be found on E-Bay. I like the looks of the Nording Freehand pipes. I have purchased 2 Chinese made pipes, and I will never buy another Chinese pipe.

20 years ago my first pipe as a Peterson System pipe with a p lip for just under $100, maybe just over $100 with shipping. I think this is a great pipe and a good beginner pipe that I still smoke today. You can also try a couple corn cobs as well.
