Just love your channel, great job Mikey Pipes! You could have told him in a technical conversation about the amount of energy needed to boil water and the amount of energy we needed to create steam but you kept it simple, that’s what I love about your energy and content. You keep it simple and your not always condescending to your customers.

Awesome work as always Mikey Pipes!!! That boiler is a lot newer than some of the boilers I’ve worked on. Oldest one I’ve worked on was from 1920s

Lol , your customer was correct, he said water boils at 100 degrees , however he is automatically assuming your talking about Celsius !

"measure twice, cut once" is a good one to follow. Don't go with the "cut it twice and it's still too short!"

He did get the boiling point of water correct at 100C. He wasn't thinking in Fahrenheit.

The advantage of a auto water feeder is delays and make up water. In my experience, no matter how import you imply blowing down LWCO’s, it doesn’t happen. The other thing to consider is they are expensive to actually maintain now and good luck on having to rebuild or replace them. Electronic Probe styles, easy to maintain, easy to replace, very available and at this point a better solution is cheaper for a change. Ultimately, if it works don’t ‘fix it’. In this case the client is observing this boiler daily, which is unexpected and a good thing!

Mike you remind me of my shop teacher when it comes to explaining and the way you ask him questions for knowing the answer & must of given a great explanation my first thing that came to mind when you asked what temperature water boiling 373k.. I don’t know why I remember that and not in Fahrenheit but I know that water boils at 373 kelven .. sorry for going off tangent. But I felt like sharing with the utmost respect for you

I have the same issue , however i gotta add water every 5-7 days. Also have a automated feeder but whenever it attempts to refill it automatic the display shows LOC after the second cycle. i then have to add water for 10 second to satify the low water cut off light and the boiler will fire right up. Radiator make missing noise while the heat is on
@lucchilucch59862 жыл бұрын
I have noticed occasionally that water come out of the air valve however it doesnt seem as much water to cause the issue. Air valve is fairly new brought em 6 months ago. Changed the old one cus the water coming out it as well. Not sure why water is coming out can it be cus of the pressure ?

Great explanation on how much longer dirty water takes to heat. Darker copper always cold, never thought of that. 😀 Mikey when you were all done. that sight glass still looked like the water was pretty dirty. Wouldn't draining it completely be a good idea?

I have a steam boiler. I have an automatic water feeder. So I would assume that all I have to do to drain is wait until the dirty water is clear? I don't have to open up a valve to add water if I have a feeder correct?

Great Vid Mr. Pipes. Just bought a 3 flat building with a crown steam boiler. Hired some one to service and educate how to maintain the boiler. Should the boiler be feed with hot or cold water? I noticed this boiler was feed with hot water. My boiler is feed with cold water. Should I be concerned?
@jameslang91702 жыл бұрын
Just feed the boiler slowly with cold water if the boiler is hot and you add cold water fast it can shock the cast iron and crack it.
@toli0968 Жыл бұрын
Hot always brother. Imo some may disagree. 3 crown cracked heat exchangers this year. All connected to cold. Crown hot water ok but steam???

Dear homeowners, us techs are really busy please answer the questions asked because we're asking them for a reason. Unless you like to be charged extra for our time being there. The faster you answer the questions the faster we can find out the fix and fix it. Also if there's anything else you want done besides what we're focusing on please feel free to let us know within the first ten minutes not 10 minutes before we leave because yes we can find all the issues but keep in mind that the more work we do the more money it cost. Also don't treat us like we're ripping you off when there's plenty of reviews online about the company you're using. Find the right tech before you call us out nothing's worse than someone treating you like you're dishonest with no substance that we're like that. I always get smart ass with people when they treat me like that when I'm in their house like wtf don't you think we wouldn't be in business this long if we're ripping people off. Just a little common sense goes a long way. I don't treat people any different whether you're rich, poor, clean ,or dirty. Thanks!

Hahaha Mr. Personality in this video cursed me out and hung up on me out of no where. Of course it was my fault. I spec'd out 10 year water tanks in scope of work, Mikey told me he could get only 6 year tanks. Half my life I've been in the construction trade so I told him to hang on so I can call my guy at Grant Supplies in LiC. Long story short I got my tanks delivered from Grant supplies. Also invested in a m12 pro press and banged all three in place myself. This stuff ain't rocket science yet all my years in construction and still never have come across a reliable and stable plumber, if anyone has one to refer in Brooklyn/Queens boroughs please post in reply.
