Depends. $50 to 80 on the arm, $30 to 50 on the rig. $125 to 200 per diem. OT on the arm, straight on the rig. The welding school is good as long as you get a Associates Degree. Big City in NE Oklahoma Welding School will get you hired on single hand working steucture. You want to do pipelining find a welder and get on with them as their helper. No I dont know any. Do your own hustling. You will need to spend 3 to 5 years as a helper learning the ropes and accumulating $$ to rig out. Then learn laying out for the butt-n-branch. Then you drive 2,000 miles for the test. You put the bead in and the inspector puts his hand on your shoulder and you hear " Hand. This is not your day. Spool up."

As a Union laborer, who also works on pipeline, I make $28.28 60-70hrs a WK. 100$ a day, Saturday- Sunday being time and a half(roughly $42 a HR), a paycheck for me is about $4,200 a week. It's a great opportunity if you get the chance, take it. But remember laborer hands work hard, sometimes you'll have easy days, some days you'll feel dead at the end of the day. Just always remember working pipeline, or any job for that matter, safety is #1 priority.

Nothing but respect to the gentleman and everyone who pursues this trade. But if you want great money, learn a trade, and be able to come home every night, look into Line work. The Powerline trade. Much greater outlook. It’s a trade you can master and become certified in. I’m 22 live in Southern California. I’m a groundman and make $36 an hour $72 an hour after 8 hrs. 2 grand a week. It does take a few certifications to get hired but nothing to hard. Mainly your class A license. I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a physical trade. Quick question based on your experience I’d like some advice, I’ve been working as a project estimator for oil and gas for a year now(steel, pipe, and electrical) I want to venture into a field/project engineer job. I worked as a labor hand in Laporte Texas at a site for a contractor and when they found out I was going to school the moved me over to the corporate office. I’m graduating in a few months and want to make the change from refinery work to pipeline work. I’m 24 single all my siblings are married and have kids. So moving out to make money seems like an obvious choice. Should I go in as a labor hand and then try to make my way into a higher paying job? Or should I keep applying online ? I haven’t gotten any bites back yet

$1800 after taxes for a 80 hour work week? That sounds a little low right? @mitchellarmyguy25155 жыл бұрын
7200 a month BRING home...we have 12 months in a year, not ten. So that's 86000 a year AFTER taxes for the low end. Become a skilled welder or heavy equipment operator and it'll climb quickly. You seemed to only multiply by 10 months if you got 60k

@briand30295 жыл бұрын
I understand there’s 12 months in a year. I was eluding to how it sounds like you would make more than 100k in a year. I got 60K considering you’re not working 80 hours consistently since he says work is not always consistent and you work by contracts. So it was an estimate on the low end. Factoring in some 40 hour work weeks and holidays, time off etc... since 80 hours is overtime and realistically I don’t think you’ll get overtime every week for an entire year straight. So chill out ppl 60k cash is more than enough I was just asking to clarify on why it isn’t over 100K. Which I realize now it is 100K+ before taxes so that was the answer to my question
@mitchellarmyguy25155 жыл бұрын
@@briand3029 the job nor the pay is ideal. But for some one in say construction barley paying bills even 60k BRING HOME is a huge step in the right direction. Ideally you want to be an operator or foreman, but you generally have to start at the bottom. And 60k bring home is one hell of a start. You'll earn every cent though. Jobs dirty, hot, and ruff. But, the money is a lot better than a warehouse job.

Join a Labor Union in the Midwest or Northeast doing a skilled trade. Once you're a Journeyman you're making usually over 40/hr + pension and health insurance. Get to sleep in your own bed. "If you ain't oilfield you ain't shit" LOL

This seems like a great opportunity for people that dont want to do the normal college route. Shoot, i thought about doing this even after graduating college. I make $100k/year now but also live in one of the most expensive areas in the US. I couldn't imagine making the same amount of money and living in a small town somewhere in Texas. I'd feel like i was balling. ha

@@karimrodriguez1380 Not at all, but unfortunately it happens all too often. All the more reason to be very selective with your mate. It takes a special kind of woman to live the Oilfield Wife Life and actually be any good at it. That being said, if you can't trust her, why the hell did you legally bind yourself to her. lol
