Yes, you are correct about the bottles of gas. Acetylene has acetone in the bottle. It is a low pressure gas and heat does help build up the pressure. But, do not put a torch to it to help with pressure or you will be in for a rude awakening. Really good video here.
@JacobSchofield4 жыл бұрын
Who in there right mind would put a Torch to a bottle they are crazy.
@davepelfrey39584 жыл бұрын
@@JacobSchofield you would be surprised. I worked for 25 years selling welding supplies and gas. In the winter time, Acetylene and propane are a low pressure gas. Meaning when it gets cold the preasure goes down and can't feed enough pressure to the torch, especially when using a high volume of gas is required to cut certain thicknesses. When the price of scrap steel goes up, alot of people become so called cutting experts. A heating blanket is the best way and safest way to build pressure. I've heard of guys setting the gas tanks close to an open flame to build the pressures up. And, do you know what alot of them say? I've done it that way for 20 years. I would tell them it only takes one time to make a mistake. Yes Jacob, there are some stupid people out there. Just sayn.

I know times are rough right now, but if you're looking to replace any of those grinders in the future check out Hilti. They are pricey but in my opinion they are worth every penny. I have no affiliation with them, but they were such a game changer for me that I tell as many people as I can about them. They've saved me so much money over the years. For me and my personal experience, they've lasted 10 times longer than any other brand I've owned. They not only last longer, you can tell when you pull the trigger on one that it has some power.

Hey guys! Any opinions of Oxy-Acetylene tanks laying flat? I have a slight 35 degree angle and am getting a lot of “nays” about it….. any experience?
@boobooedmondson88359 ай бұрын
The problem is dirty/gritty liquid gets in the valve when you open it and then the valve will not close without leaking. That is the real reason you don't lay the acetylene bottle down. Becoming volatile, or unstable is untrue.

@@michaelsimerly3993 why? it's just a question you dick. I was just wondering because I know f you transport acetylene on its side you have to wait a while. I was just curious if you had to wait because all the vibration and shaking while driving even when its upright or if it doesn't matter
@JacobSchofield4 жыл бұрын
No you will be fine. I’ve never had any trouble driving over to a job Getting out and starting a torch. Don’t your worry about Michael. I one time got on a chat form when I was about 16 and asked what a Tig rig was. I later got about 20 messages telling me I should never weld and if I didn’t know what a Tig rig was I needed to never come back to that chat form. Moral of the story... never be like Michael always help people.
