I've used both for stick, mig, flux core, and Tig .... I started with the tiger hood cut 2.5 inches off the bottom and fit it to a hard hat and then I got my pipeliners 2 of them ... One I just cut 2 in off the bottom and fit it to rachet back headgear, and the other I cut 2inches off the bottom and a half inch off the top, then installed a flip front and threw that hood on a halo quick connect just because I fell in love with the fit of the pipeliner hood ..... I sold my tigerhood soon after .... Both my pipeliners hoods are going strong after 5 years of continuous use ... I do have to say I regret selling my tigerhood I should have kept it for the headgear parts .....

People only like the pipeliner for the hype. Non trimmed the tiger hood is lighter than the pipeliner, it's has a flip and it clears all hard hats and respirators. The only thing that sets them apart is a pipeliner is harder to crack and it obviously looks better.
@MadRhetorik.2 жыл бұрын
Lighter? I have both and my tiger hood is like 3-4x the weight but it’s also pushing 40 years old. Maybe the new ones are lighter idk

There are cheaper options than pipeliners that works great and have almost the same shape, and weight less

Pipe liner cloud is carbon fiber and only weighs 9 oz. If you want a flip front style just buy the attachment from weld tube that goes on a pipeliner and only adds 2 oz. I have been welding with an Optrel 2.0 clear and it weighs 17 oz. It is basically one of the lightest in the game but this pipe line cloud will cut the weight in half.

okay, the smaller hood, when you put new headgear if you did have to, did you have any issues with the right side of it not wanting to screw on cause it didn’t stick out far enough from the thing that catches the hood so it doesn’t fall? my screw thing doesn’t want to be long enough

How do you swap out lenses and clears on the tiger hood?
@falkenhagen.4063 жыл бұрын
There's a retainer piece on the backside of the flip-lens' housing that you take out that's used to keep your filter and clear lenses in place, and from falling out of the lens changing slot. As mentioned, this slot from earlier is on the side of the flip-lens' plastic housing that your filter and clear slide into. Just gotta do the parts in order... From outside to inside: Clear, Filter, Retainer. It's as basic if not more basic, than an auto hood once you've done it. As well as the hood comes with an instruction anyways. As for the clear that is behind the flip lens that you'd see when the hood is "open" and you're grinding, or chipping slag, or something... That one just sits inside a retainer built into the shell of the hood... All 3 lenses are 4x2.25in

Yes I use my 2 pipeliners constantly for mig, flux core, Tig and stick, and you can even fit them on a hard hat if you take a half inch off the top though I highly recommend removing 2 inches off the bottom so it won't hit you in the neck when looking straight down if you have to
