Hi Wolfgang Nav lights of on a IF flight? Weather radar only go‘s on when lined up on runway! DE ICE is for deiceing, not to be switched on at 1 degree Celsius plus…VERY dangerous practice!!!! Read up in POH! What does the ME list state about stallwarning heat on IF flights with known iceing? Read up on the difference between do- list and check-list.! Also check your angle of the weather radar on the climeout!

Yeah, turn on de ice boots without ice can kill you soon or later, it is just used when you see ice formation, if you turn on before ice is forming, you can make it useless...

The lights won't kill him, but stall heat and de ice system can cause a very bad situation.

Curious-how come you are not setting up your flight director for TO/GA before departure? That is a pretty standard technique in all TP/TJ aircraft, and every PA 46 initial and recurrent I have ever taken has taught this, with transition to FLC [the mode you were in] after gear up. Something to consider in the future, among other things using TO/GA ensures you will consistently pitch up to the most appropriate departure pitch angle. Just something to consider, thanks for posting your videos, very enjoyable to watch.

Indeed worth discussing Carl! I learned it the same way you described it - but I came to prefer the FLC setting to 100kt and NAV armed. The GA gives you a steady pitch - regardless of aircraft configuration. I try to maintain 100kt up to 400 ft / safe altitude and then accelerate to 125 kt. With this FD setup I can pitch for the bars and get my 100 kt, the hit the AP at 400 ft and no need to fiddle with the NAV button and the FLC button. push AP - that’s it. Then I have time to increase the FLC Speed to 125 kt and do the rest of the checklist. Not like it’s tought - but works better for me….

@@MarkusR8282 Great explanation and thank you for taking the time to reply. As you note, you have found a method that works for you and does what you need it to do. I typically use TO/GA since I'm flying one of three different airplanes with different V Speeds, etc., so TO/GA makes it easy.
