That's kind of the point though, there are no set interpretations for the pips. There is a range of possibilities, but they are contextual. We are conditioned a bit to think "this card means this, and that card means that" but with the Marseille, especially the pips, the meanings are not so concrete. Even when understanding the principles of number suit, color, and other correspondences moves away from the initial aspect of seeing what is present on the cards - at least when reading in the visual manner. One day, a wand is a wand, the other day it's a pen, another it's an arm or leg, another it's a cigarette, still another it's a ski pole... Try to find visual parallels between what you see and what you know, and between what you see and the situation in question... and most importantly, LET the meanings be fluid :)

Yes, of course, I understand that, but it's a different way of understanding. It's a challenging hump to get over, but the hump is those defined meanings, thus it is all the more challenging to get over the more defined those meanings are :) I know I'm speaking in riddles, but that is the language of the Marseille - it is poetry, not prose.
