Piranha is my favorite Jaws send up and B movie. The mutant piranha were designed by Phil Tippet and the sound effect of the piranha feeding was a submerged dentist drill. I have the steelbook version of this gem.

Heather Menzies-Urich was a Canadian born actress. She was one of the child actors in the 1965 film version of the sound of music. Both her and her late husband, Robert did a lot of American tv shows even though they were born in Canada. Sadly they both died of cancer. First Robert and now her. :(

5:03 Friend, although in that part of the movie 2 of the children are dragged underwater, the camera changes a lot and that is why it is not clear as in the attack of the tourists.

Dick Miller and Belinda Balaski also appeared in Joe Dante's The Howling. Dick being the Occult store owner and Belinda (who played a camp counselor here) was Dee Wallace's friend (and werewolf victim).

Both artworks are vintage. One is the original theatrical and the other is an alternate that was used for the VHS edition and some international posters. The woman swimming up to the surface is the one I remember from the video stores. I didn't see the other one with the woman in the tube until the DVD editions decades later.

10:20 I think that artwork on the flipside was the slipcover of the Shout! Factory DVD. I remember buying that a decade or so ago and was miffed that the original art wasn't on it until I found that the case actually did have the original on the other side. I could be wrong, because it's been a long time since I owned that DVD, but that looks so familiar if it isn't.

That reversible art is the original cinema poster art. And if you like Joe Dante films then check out the underrated Matinee (1993) which is a blast for film fans!

Oh, this is a good one, Ken. I enjoyed this one over the previous Blu-ray by itself. For me, it was an upgrade! There are definitely some scenes in the movie that make you wonder about JAWS 2. Haha Especially the guy on the water ski scene and the man putting the gasoline in his boat. Heather Menzies plays Louisa in THE SOUND OF MUSIC and was in the TV series Logan's Run as Jessica 6. She passed away on Dec. 24, 2017, at age 68. Bradford Dillman, check out Clint Eastwood's DIRTY HARRY movies, BUG, THE SWARM. He was also in the WW II movie BRIDGE AT REMAGEN as Major Barnes. An outstanding WW II movie and one of my favorites of that genre. He passed away on January 16, 2018, he was 87.

I just order my copy for this movie and it’s arriving today too and I hope it comes with the slipcover too and I only seen it one time and it’s been a long time since I seen the film back in 2010 I believe back when Piranha 3D Remake came out and man it’s been so long since I seen the original film Kenny and great 👍🏻 review too bro 😎

Actually dick miller has been in Roger corman films since like day one... The original "little shop of horrors"... Joe Dante continued to use him in his films... Another Roger corman alumni (James Cameron, piranha II (terminated halfway through filming)) used him and lance henriksen in his runaway hit, 1984's "The Terminator"

One of my favs. You've just watched the film for the first time? So, you DID compare this release to the previous excellent 2019 steelbook (4k scan of original camera negative) cuz I thought the colors were great and the picture excellent overall.This release looks better? Don't see how it could look better, but if it does I'll upgrade yet AGAIN. 🙄 The 2010 SF release had the same exact reversible artwork.

I do enjoy Piranha 3D (2010). One of the bloody and goriest movies. More like Jaws but campier and wacky

Quite a number of today's top stars and directors got their start working for Roger Corman. Meanwhile, I don't think it's surprising that Piranha isn't all that campy. Despite the low budgets, I recall hearing somewhere that Corman didn't care for campy humour in his films. He reportedly thought it was a mistake to include the black humour in the original Death Race 2000.

Am I alone thinking alot of these boutique "Collector's Editions" are pretty lame? And if they are nice (new Texas Chainsaw 2 release) the price tag is unreal? Remember when good ol' DVDs had ACTUAL Collector's Editions worthy of the name and didn't come at a premium markup? (Evil Dead 2 Book of the Dead that screamed, comes to mind).
