Yeah ROTLD was the first film where zombies crave brains. In Romero's films they'll eat anything. In case you didn't know ROTLD was originally planned as a direct sequel to NOTLD but later they made it it's own franchise. I saw this movie in theaters and it was a blast. When it came out on VHS I quickly rented it and recorded it. Of course I bought this 4K right of the bat. Good review and cool video Ken!👉😃👈

I own both the 2016 release and this new 4K release, it is worth the upgrade. The 2016 release was the first time ROTLD looked good on a home video release.

Hey Ken, you and your wife should come out to Texas sometime, you remember the gas station on the 1973 The Texas Chain Saw Masscre, dude it's like 1 hour from me in Bastrop Texas and it's Called The Gas Station look it up. It's all about Horror movies . Plus the guy who played the Hitchhiker's he always comes out. BTW yes The Return of the Living dead on 4K is awesome.

The second 2.0 track is actually the original theatrical mix with the original tar zombie vocals as well as the music/vocal mixes. I think they accidentally got the labelling mixed up. It is there though. Unfortunately The Damned song is still changed due to music rights (the older Second Sight BD had the complete original audio) but everything else is intact on that second audio track.

The movie is a total blast. Saw it back when I was 11 upon its video store release and it was fun, exciting and freaky. I'm totally in for getting this edition for the new restoration. Of course I want other stuff by Scream Factory too, but I dig these new restorations and looking forward to a few more - Hell Night would be cool and in need.

It's worth it to hang on to those old VHS or DVD bootlegs of the workprint as the version on the Blu Ray censors dialogue from Burt towards Spider as I guess it's not PC. And also removes the song Nasty Girl from Trashes strip tease. The song and removed dialogue are still in the bootleg old copies but not on the official release of the workprint version.

they messed up the audio. When you put the disk in, make sure you select audio 2, NOT audio 1 which says it's the original mono sound track. It reversed. Audio option 2 is the original mono sound track. That's the one with the songs back in place correctly.

All except The Damned song. That one is still changed due to audio rights. Everything else is complete! You are right though it is mislabeled on the disc. The older Second Sight BD does have The Damned song in it.

Dawn of the Dead is correctly known as the greatest zombie movie ever just to clarify. ROTLD is probably 2nd or maybe Fulci's Zombie 2. This movie is a bonafide classic though and balances horror n humor as well as any movie ever made. Fright Night, An American Werewolf in London, Young Frankenstein and Re-Animator also fit into this niche nicely.

The credits would mean the scenes used would be a generation less in quality since it was optical printed. So, it's natural it would not be up to the level of the off the negative film image. I wonder if Trash's... uh... modesty prosthetic stands out more now.

A reason the end credits don't look like the rest of the movie is probably because they likely had to use an IP, instead of the OCN. The credits are usually a 2nd generation of the negative, so it wouldn't look UHD. I heard the original mono is mislabeled. There are two replacement songs on it, so it isn't an original. The 2.0 is apparently the closest you'll get to the original due to The Damned song having not been included.

Fast zombies don't make sense except 28 Days Later when they're not dead and therefore, not zombies. No blood circulation, and muscle atrophy aren't conducive to sprinting. Of course, people coming back from the dead doesn't make sense either.This has long been one of my favorites. I will say about the old open matte 1.33 aspect ratio version, you get a little bit more trash.🧟‍♀️

The reason the recap scenes at the end have a lower image quality is because the closing credits were optically superimposed over them. This creates a generational loss on the image and makes it look not as clean. This has nothing to do with the restoration, just the limitations of the source technology at the time.

Dawn is the weakest of the original trilogy, hot take but I'm not that into Dawn of the Dead. Day of the Dead and Return of the Living Dead are neck and neck for the best zombie flick ever made.
