Thank you - this is extremely helpful in exploring the Perpetual line of strings - I was debating on Edition A vs Soloist A and quite frankly, I don't hear enough of a difference to fret about it and I do have a VERY good sound set up on my Mac : ) If you see this comment, would you care to advise on whether you have found anything you like better than the Perpetuals in terms of tone, playability and above all, a "friendly", sonorous A without the slightest edge? Many thanks again for you highly detailed sound comparisons - no one does it better! : )

I’ve been playing on Rondos since they came out on both of my cellos. Hope that helps!

The Mediums sound the cleanest and have less "nasal" sound compared to the other variants, imo. Can't wait for your demo of the Rostanvos. I've been very curious about them and heard that they are similar, or better, to Versum Solos (this was just a comment from some of the very few reviews about Rostanvos strings, not from my personal experience). Also I don't dislike the Solos or anything (I've never tried them), it's just some food for thought when comparing the sets.

I’m sorry that health issues have slowed down my demo production, but I will get to Rostanvo, and I have sourced a set of the new Thomastik Rondo strings, as well. Hopefully I’ll get these done in January...

@@nycellist Sorry to hear about your health issues, hopefully you made a great recovery! No need to rush, I'm sure everyone watching would be happy with your content regardless of the upload date. Looking forward to your future demos!

Clay, are you still using Versum Solos? How do the perpetuals compare?

Hey, Jake, when I am not prepping a string demo, I do go back to the Versum solos. I liked all of the perpetuals a lot, though, and I have their solos as my backups. I need to finish a bunch of demos (Kaplan, Rostanvo, and eventually the new Thomastik Rondo), so the jury is still out!

To compare them, I would say that they share a comfort under the fingertips (maybe not so much the Strong Perpetual, it is a thicker, harder string) that I attribute to the flexibility of the string, as I would that the are immediately responsive to the bow. The surface of these and the Versum are very smooth, making it unusually comfortable. They are very stable regarding pitch. I do not know how robust they are in terms of how long they can last, but my experience with Pirastro’s Evah Pirazzi, was that they lasted a very long time, as do all of the Thomastik spiral core strings (Versum are really just a more modern version of the spirocore, which originated in 1947).
