They sounded too bright to me. Rondo or Dominant Pro were better.

Hello, I would like to know what was the opinion of Mr. Ojiro Toshikura regarding the 3 sets of strings? What was his choice in this playing comparison? Thanks.

For his personal use he chose A&D Dominant Pro and G&C Versum solo .

Thank you for your comment. Toshikura Ojiro is playing in the video. Rondo:Strong strings, so you can feel the metallic sound for about 2 weeks until you get used to it. It has a wide range of tones. It got the long life of the strings. Versum: It has a bright sound and is easier to play from the beginning. However, the strings are thin, so care should be taken not to break them. Dominant Pro: The A and D strings are well balanced, while the C string seems a little difficult to play until you get used to it.

Dominant Pro. The versum was just too bright to me.

@@TCMCelloClub OK, thanks for the confirmation. I’ve never seen any Versum with yellow threads over the silk, I suppose Thomastik-Infeld makes different windings for various markets.

Hi Jeffrey , thank you for your comment . I doubt that Thomastik is doing that however maybe you’re talking about the old version of Versums ( with striped packaging ) ? In our video we used the newest Versum solo edition. Hope that makes sense. Kind regards, Dmitry Feygin.

Hi Dmitry, to clarify, I was referring to the difference of the silk design on the ball end between the A & D’s light-green vs. G & C’s yellow spiral over the same green. Since none of my Versum strings (standard & Solo) have those yellow/gold decoration, it piqued my interest in this great comparison video. Thanks!🙂

Thank you Jeffrey ! I don’t have the strings now but will check the windings tomorrow. I thought all strings is the same but now checked the video and you’re right, G&C looks yellowish . We got the strings straight from Thomastik Infeld , I can only guess that spot lighting in the room we’ve used for this video makes it look different.
