Loving this the way the song is built. The guitars kick it off and are strictly rhythm and drums layer in. Geraint takes the lead and off it goes to a different level. This is pure Cajun Wales, London and New Orleans mix. Such a powerhouse sound full on Johnny Allen. Is that Andy Fairweather Low? Tight as a drum lean and clean!

Elsewhere on YT you can find an interview of Dave Edmunds relating the story of how he played with Chuck back in the mid-80s as part of Chuck's 60th birthday celebrations, and Chuck was so impressed he let Dave play the leads, and said at the end 'Who says a white man can't play the blues?'. I've also heard another interview from Chuck himself commenting on one of Dave's songs (Queen of Hearts) saying Dave had a real feel for rock n roll...High praise indeed from the true king of rock n roll.

Dave and Mickey are up there with Knopfler, when it comes to rockabilly stuff. Regarding great guitarists, though, someone has just sent me on Facebook a clip of Albert Lee doing guitar overdub on a track being recorded by Edmunds. At one point,, D.E. says that if he could be reborn as anyone it would be as Albert Lee. The man is a guitar genius!

As in Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry, this song works, partly because the drummer is "swinging" the feel, over the more-or-less straight staccato 4/4 that some of the other instruments are playing. I saw this exact live band in a club, and was blown away. Marshall Crenshaw opened for them , and his band was great, too!

Sorry, this is really good but the voices and versions of Chuck himself and Jerry Lee are much more poignant. I would love to see Dave perform though.
