The hatchets for Will Turner make sense (somewhat). He uses it (he had one) for the scene when the Pearl attacks Port Royal, using it to take down a few pirates and as a secondary weapon to his sword for others. He does not have it after he gets knocked out and never has one again for the rest of the franchise, but most games with the films give him hatchets to give players more reason to use him vs the ever-popular Jack Sparrow.

I loved this game as a child. Not a perfect game, but I must say it is a lot better than many other "film-based" games. While it follows Curse of the Black Pearl, it has its own original characters, doesn't use film footage, own soundtrack and not the usual video game adaption like tropes.

This game has a great final boss thematically - Pirates are characterised in the movie by constant backstabbing and betrayals - what would be their perfect foil? Three brothers who come out to help each other as the fight progesses. They come out one by one, each with a unique weapon when one of the other brothers looks like they are in trouble until eventually you are fighting all three at once. It's hard as hell but really fun.

I remember playing this game as a child and enjoying it, it was one of the first PS2 games I bought personally with my own money, instead of my parent getting it, and that gave it a bit of sentimental value! It was also when I still didn't have a memory card, so I would remember playing as far as I could. I'd always get stuck at the dragon in the China level.
