Devin, in my opinion, your content is extremely engrossing, and I consider you one of the most entertaining storytellers on this platform. This is even more impressive, considering the type of content that you talk about, which yes is niche. You’re able to speak to a kind of human element and the passion of life that weaves itself naturally through your content. You should know that. This conversation is GOLD

Stuttering is a weird thing. I stutter a lot when I speak, when I don't have a clear vision of what exactly I want to say. A lot of times, speech for me is not only a moment of communication, but a moment to figure out / articulate / refine my view on a topic. I can completely eliminate the stutter if I tell the person in front of me, "Hold on, give me 15 seconds", and then close my eyes and take a few deep breaths to clear my mind and focus on what I want to say. And then when I say it, I will very smoothly, and very confidently say almost exactly what I want to say without stuttering.

15:00 I got a surge of 8-9k viewers when I was starting out and I got incredibly nervous and didn't know what to do. And I'm a musician who have played on stage for thousands. The sudden influx of viewers can easily mess with you if you aren't ready.

I have not watched the live stream to know about this moments where he is about to lock in for a clip. From my personal experience I process and dig through my thoughts out loud. So even if I have learned and know something, i will stumble because as the words come out i will actually know its wrong and start correcting. So its not always confidence to speak and worry about it being wrong later. I already know. So i would have to pause and be silent for a minutes in my head to formulate the packaged thought.

Tried out streaming the easy way by just streaming me playing games with my friends without much interaction with the stream (afterall I didn't have any viewers). Then I tried out a harder route, playing competitive games mostly solo with constantly talking about my thoughts during the situation. This was extremely hard to do and I got good in it fast but damn this was so exhausting. Within just 2 weeks of doing this I got from 1-2 viewers up to 10-15 viewers but after just 2 weeks I was so exhausted from doing this that it felt like a second job. After streaming I always had a sore throat and a headache, it negatively effected my real job and my overall health, so I had to quit. People like myself are just not made for streaming.

On Thor's stream you can donate bits to have your message read out by a Text-To-Speech program. ALOT of people donate to Thor though so he made a que system where every request for text to speech (which costs actual money) is put into a que and he can have them read out to him whenever he wants to. If his stream ends before he finishes the que, all the donations are converted to real money and added to a debt which at a certain point, is paid out to a charity.

Is it funny how some of the things he did i also came up with those concepts in my mind as something for streamers to try, when i was only a viewer watching and analyzing the same streamers over and over. But i had zero proof and experience to help.

Although everything they discussed is absolutely true, placement being a big one that no one considers, there's one thing that people always forget... Luck! You can practice all you want, fill a niche, you can tease and work the algorithm, but ultimately, the biggest thing is getting lucky. You need to hope that people want to see it, interact, share, and then other content creators jump in, etc. Then, once you're on that radar, you need that to continue in order to stay afloat. You see quality entertainers and content creators all the time with very few or no viewers, doing everything right, but they just haven't gotten lucky.

Because he revealed his dad was the character from the WOW episode of south park, its not that complicated. What is complicated is for someone completely random building a community from scratch based on who they are, not who they know.
