The Austrian attack is one of the most dangerous systems a Pirc defense player can face. In this lesson, your coach will show you the way he handles it in tournaments and informal games. Likewise, you will learn the different lines and variations you should prepare and study. We will break down some of the main lines, but it is ultimately your job to pick what you like the most and study it.

Benefits of Playing Chess:
- Promotes brain growth
Increases problem-solving skills
It exercises both sides of the brain
Raises your IQ
Sparks your creativity
Teaches planning and foresight
Teaches patience and concentration
Optimizes memory improvement
Improves recovery from stroke or disability
Helps treat ADHD
Chess is an intellectual battle where players are exposed to numerous mental processes such as analysis, attention to detail, synthesis, concentration, planning and foresight. Psychological factors are also present on and off the board; playing Chess stimulates our imagination and creativity. Every single move a player makes is the result of a deep analysis based on the elements presented on the battlefield.
Chess in its essence teaches us psychological, sociological and even moral values. In a Chess game, both players start with the same amount of material and time. The fact that the white pieces move first is considered to be practically irrelevant -especially because a player typically plays one game as white and one game as black. Consequently, the final result of the battle solely depends on each player. It doesn’t matter if you win by taking advantage of your opponent’s mistakes or by simply avoiding mistakes yourself. Truth is that Chess is an extremely individual sport and our defeats can only be blamed on ourselves and no one else. And this, in the end, only benefits us because we learn to be and feel responsible for our actions and never come up with excuses to justify ourselves.
We also learn that when it comes to our victories on the board, our opponent's mistakes play a more significant role than our own skills. Let’s not forget that a Chess game without any mistakes would be a draw. This way, Chess provides us with another valuable life lesson: be humble at all times.

my rating went from 1100 to 1500 after I spent like 2 weeks memorizing all the lines and ideas of the pirc, my middle game and endgame were decent but I never had a solid opening and would always blunder like 5-10 moves in, I’ve been able to stay consistently in the 1500 range but my peak was 1572, honestly the most solid opening I’ve ever seen thank you

I love how much time you spend answering our questions in the comments, you're a gem and this channel is deserving of way more attention and subs. You're a wonderful teacher and have helped me a ton by diving in deeper into theory than some other educators on KZbin. But you also don't go too crazy and make it seem overwhelming, it's a gift. Thank you, sir. I am constantly referring back to many of your videos now that I've actually purchased and have been studying several books. These videos are such a good go-between from books to the board.

@@stoplisten5439 I actually don’t PIRC now. I play Sicilian Najdorf as black, or I play the KID. I’m currently 1600 ELO in rapid and blitz. I have recently stopped playing online to focus on chessable training. Am working through a chess structures course. I feel like I wasted a lot of time playing bullet with no development, and now I feel that bullet isn’t helping me develop my rapid chess calculations. For me, I need to commit to chessable training for the next several months. I think that will then get me from 1600 to 1900. How about you? ❤️

@@RaptureReady2025 Hi, thank you for your reply. I totally agree on leaving fast chess in order to improve, I did this my self and it worked. I am currently 1944 DWZ (German rating system), and at this rating range it's so close to ELO. And recently I noticed that whenever I play with black, I get in trouble from the opening if my opponent was well prepared against my basic openings with black. I always fight to draw or wait for my opponent to blunder a tactical or positional move when I play with black. And now I'm trying to find a system like PIRC to study it deeply to play it against almost everything that white can play. I tried it online, and I won a lot of games, and I kind of like it, but I'm still not sure whether to play this OTB or not.

I don't have any visual memory so I don't usually get anything out of opening themed videos, like for instance I would watch 12 hours of an opening and still only remember the first 2 or 3 moves that I knew before watching. So what I'm after is the rationale behind these moves and you don't get that much of this normally, but the videos in this series excel at their teaching and even the opening ones do. I worked my way up from lesson 11 on, and there's quite a few opening ones to come but I'm going to watch them all and not skip over them as not worthy of my time, these are all worthy, even to those of us who can neither visualize nor remember visually. I depend purely on analysis and am super happy I found this series to help me do that better!

Robert thanks for the great video; @ 17:53 after 5...c5 6.dxc5, Qa5 instead of the mainline 7.Bd3 there is the odd looking 7.Qe2. After 7...Qxc5 8. Be3 Qa5 9.Qb5+ white looks to trade of Queens and the result is that in almost all lines white comes away with at least a +0.5 advantage.

@@1968laugro yes, that repetition certainly helps us memorize the lines. I think that in order to share it, you have to click on "add members" and put their Lichess username. Excellent question, Mario! You are right about that. The main question to ask ourselves is what changes when they do not develop their knight to f3? They do not have so much control over d4 and e5. So, what if we try to take advantage of it? It is recommended to play 5..., Nc6 hitting the d4-pawn and if Nf3, then Bg4. I personally like to take advantage of their lack of control over e5. So, I do 5..., e5 right away. If they do fxe5, then dxe5 and if dxe5 then, Ng4 getting the e5-pawn back and they have an isolated e4-pawn. Hope this makes sense 👍

😅 i am actually happy to know you work this way. This is great. you are not just watching the lesson, you are carefully studying it and that makes a huge difference. By the way, I think you asked before about the community tav. You can find it by going to my KZbin channel. You can click here: kzbin.info

@@NMRobertRamirez ahhh cool thank you so much !! I have a slightly off topic. I try to find variations where the opponent does not take the center directly but play an opening like kings indian attack or something like that and I am now looking for very strong variations against that. because normally when I play against an opponent who does this. I play logically while developing without losing time and I take the center directly if he does not take it himself. but i'm looking for cool variations. otherwise the three videos of this opening are awsome. I think we can not find better. even in the books really !! now I'm taking a break. I do puzzles on lichess heheh and in the evening I will come back to my preparation in your pirk deffence video hehe. I like the chess from day to day thanks to you. thanks to your help your support and encouragement. thank you thank you again and again. as i told you one day this is the greatest gift i have received. this is your lesson and I really mean it. because it helps me a lot to get closer to my goal with my program. I still intend to work hard and never stop

Good point, Mehdi! If they do something like the fianchetto variation. You can play quietly and do logical moves. I think I have uploaded 4 lessons on the Pirc (# 69, 70, 71 and 73). On lesson # 71, I played a game as white (it starts on minute 16:05 of lesson # 71) where my opponent did a fianchetto and it got sort of like a symmetrical position. You can use the plans I explained there. Anyways, we will talk more about it in future lessons. Like always, thanks a lot for your kind words! Your goal is closer every day because you are putting a lot of effort and doing things the right way 💪
