(2008-9-7) This improvisation was done on a Quiet Bear F# flute made of Western cedar, which is light as a feather and has a wonderful aroma. (It's also a sacred wood.) This was actually a kit that I finished - the sound-producing aparatus was already made by Quiet Bear (the very talented Dwight Lind), and all the holes were drilled, so all I had to do was shape the bore and the block with a hand planer, wood rasp, and sandpaper and then apply a finish of 4 coats of shellac. This simple little flute has a very special sound that I'm rather fond of. Give it a listen!
