Most of the videos on the tubes, the speakers talk very fast. I've often wondered if they had to visit a bathroom.🤣 Your video is well presented, showing preparation. The demonstration of assembly and your video rendering skills are top notch. You speak clearly and calmly showing great professionalism. This allows my old ear drums to pickup what you are saying without needing captions on. Thanks for your efforts, Jon, best regards John

LOL, that might just be the case John! Thank you so much Sir, I greatly appreciate your kind comments. I'm currently working on a new video that is taking a bit longer than I thought it would, but should be very interesting. I love robotics, something I don't get to play around with near as much. Took my son and his girlfriend out to record footage tonight from the drone to get some good action shots. They turned out nicely! Here's a quick look: kzbin.infoT1iPsPFmIcM

I purchased the Pironman 5 Case for a raspberry pi 5 build. It took me over a week to figure out the correct boot configuration. What took so long is trying to find out what number represents the NVMe boot first. It may help someone in the future. My fans, lights would stay on after shut down forcing me to unplug the power supply every time. The correct boot sequence is ....Boot order: Oxf641. Make sure to replace the first numerical value to 6. I hope I have saved someone some time dealing with this thing. It works great now. Upgraded with a Samsung 990 PRO with heatsink NVMe drive. Figuring out how to load game ROMs to it with Retropie will be a longer journey. 😁

Thank you for sharing your experience and information about the Pironman 5! A few tips below, that might be useful also. The fans remaining on were likely due to the POWER-OFF_ON_HALT setting at the default of 0 (instead of 1): docs.sunfounder.com/projects/pironman5/en/latest/set_up/set_up_rpi_os.html . From the page: "To prevent the OLED screen and RGB fans, powered by the Raspberry Pi GPIO, from remaining active post-shutdown, it’s essential to configure the Raspberry Pi for GPIO power deactivation." You don't have to do the following (unless you want it to always boot from NVMe), but in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnebZqpvfLxmqJI (fast forwarded) you can adjust the boot order through raspi-config. I didn't do that in this video, mainly because of the convenience of easily swapping between microSD or NVMe boot. As long as the microSD card isn't inserted it will be able to boot from the NVMe SSD. Hope some of this reply might be helpful as well.

@@WagnersTechTalk I DID have the Power_off_on_HALT=1...As well as BOOT_UART=1....Also.....PCIE_PROBE=1. The settings I saw suggested the Boot order as BOOT_ORDER=0xf416....However once shut down the fans and lights would continuously run. 🤷🏼 I AM somewhat new to the whole Raspberry pi, But I have taken Network Administration courses as my major in college. I feel as though I am learning something new every day with this set up. Thanks for the help and insight, it does not go unnoticed. Love the informative videos you post. Keep up the great content. 👊🏼🤘🏼

Thanks again for the additional information and your kind comments! btw - have you tried PINN Lite on the NVMe? If not, stay tuned for that one 🤓 It's likely my next video, it's pretty cool as it allows you to run multiple OSes from a single NVMe drive. The version for the Pi5 also now boots right off the NVMe (prior versions required a microSD to boot from first). I installed Pi Desktop, Kali, Ubuntu (v23), LibreElec, Batocera and Recalbox on a single 1TB SSD. Still finding a few minor things I need to figure out before I can make a vid on it. But just thought I'd mention it incase it is of interest.

@@grolschmaster1973 It's still coming, but delayed. I ran into an issue with Batocera (image wasn't the latest build) so wanted to give the devs. time to update it. I'll likely get back to it in a week or two.

Very well done video! Narration is pleasant and easy to understand. I purchased one of these and then a second. Both work well and assy. was smooth (just like you showed). Case is pricey but worth it IMHO. Many of the other reviews were performed by individuals who would typically have difficulty finding their posterior with both hands. They whine and moan about the price. One couldn't even get the software installed! Yours is AWESOME. Well done!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Pironman 5! I installed a 1TB NVMe SSD to it the other night along with PINN Lite and then installed: Pi Desktop, Ubuntu, Kali, Batocera and Recalbox all to the single M.2 NVMe SSD. I'll likely have some content on that soon as I do some additional testing. It's very convenient and PL no longer requires a boot microSD which is a big plus.

At the time this video was released, the Pironman 5 was in-stock on Amazon. If it shows out of stock, there are more are on the way! There is a link in the video description to pick it up directly from Sunfounder, if needed. It should be back in stock on Amazon soon.

I was supposed to get this for the retro game build but I decided on making that look like an NES console. However, I'm still thinking of getting this to set it up for Home Assistant. I wonder how it will be running 24/7 with active cooling.

I’d love to but one of these, but I’m not going to wait the two weeks it takes to get here from China. When the company has stocks in the US, I’ll buy one. I guess I’m spoiled by overnight delivery of almost everything. Waiting two weeks is just outside the realm of possibility for me, unless there’s no alternative . What I’m really looking for right now is a Raspberry Pi case with holes for SMA antenna connectors. Good video, though. This was a nice unboxing and review. Thanks!

I have a question, i just purchased almost the identical set up as this(pironman 5, 250gb nvme, and a raspberry pi 5 with 64 gb micro sd) . I want to run the regular Pi OS on the micro SD and keep it as the default boot and have batocera running on the NVME as a retro gaming set up with the idea being I'll always have the micro SD unplugged when im playing games but just put it back in when I want to use the normal Pi OS for other things or projects. Do you think this would work with that boot order?? And if so how would I go about doing it, id love to see you show a similar set up with this case
@WagnersTechTalk
@WagnersTechTalk 2 ай бұрын
Yes, should work in that order. If a microSD is inserted, it will boot from that. Otherwise, NVMe or USB. Should be good. If you need more info., this video you might also find helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnebZqpvfLxmqJI

If it's aluminum threads, you can't crank down tight. I'd synch them up till they touch then give it another bit of a turn. You could always add nuts on the non-covered screws.

I built mine a couple of months ago and the fan screws didn't work. Probably why the later units have longer screws.

See the section "Compatible NVMe SSDs include" towards the middle here: www.sunfounder.com/products/pironman-5-nvme-m-2-ssd-pcie-mini-pc-case-for-raspberry-pi-5 . Those have been confirmed to work, there are some listed as incompatible.

My pi boots from NVMe but says “low voltage power supply detected” then the cooler fan and other peripherals are turned off though I’m using a 5v power supply. I’ve tried everything what could possibly be the issue?

If you're not using the official Pi5 power supply, that's likely why. The one from CanaKit is the one I used and supports 27W: wagnerstechtalk.com/rpi5/#Official

I have a different case with NVME drive and the official 27 watt supply and see the same thing. I'm not overclocking or anything. Makes me wonder if the NVME drive is pulling too much current.

This case is exclusively for the Pi 5 (won't work with the Pi4). There is an older version for the Pi4 that you can check out here: www.sunfounder.com/collections/raspberry-pi-4-cases/products/raspberry-pi-4-case . I have an older video on this specific case here also: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXqyq6GwfKl1ma8
